Show AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE Is full of Life Since the Holidays, Willi the reopening1 of school last Tuesday after the holldajs came the beginning of the regular courses. Many new students entered the Institution Insti-tution to take advantage- of the mid-j mid-j ear woik offered by the schools of I Commerce, Engineering, Agriculture and Domestic Science. So far about M elRlily students have been registered ft j in these special comscs. At chapel on Tuesday morning, Mr. Joseph W. West, ofOgdcn, addiessed the students. This gentleman has al-wasbcen al-wasbcen a filend of the Institution, and his visit was much appreciated. Both the commissioned and noncommissioned non-commissioned oillccrs of the cadet corps have lecelvcd their uniforms. The boys look like real soldiers, and their actions well befit their looks. Capt. Stycr is determined that the military department of the schools shall be among the very best. An artillciy attachment has been oigan-ized, oigan-ized, and the signal corps hac begun woik. The band, which, by the way, belongs to the "war" department, Is one of the best school bands In the state. Never before In the history of the college has so much inteiest been taken in the military woik. Last Thursday morning in chapel State Engineer Dorcmus addiessed the student body. His address was full of good instruction for the students. stu-dents. During the day he spoke to a large audience of water-users of Cache county upon important irrigation questions. The Ixys who won laurels upon the gridhon during the football campaign of 100.1 are to be icvvaided for their lojalty and hard work. Expensive swoatcis with a laige white "A." thereon have been oidercd from an Eastern iirm and will be presented to the members of Utah's champion football team by the students as a token of appreciation. Now that the football season Is over Athletic Instructor Campbell is pic-paring pic-paring to give a lgoious course in winter athletics piepaiatoiy to Hack woik next spring. The Dramatic Club has begun 'rehearsals 're-hearsals of Shakcspe.ue's comedy, f'As You Like It," which will be presented pre-sented during the spring months. The caste is a strong one and is composed entirely of students. As a precautionary mcasuic, all of the books which were taken out of the library by the students dining the holldajs aio being fumigated. This Is done so to guard against the contagious con-tagious diseases which are prevailing in some parts of the neighborhood. A laige number of advance students have registered for the class in Spanish Span-ish which has been oiganlzed this week. This makes four foreign languages lan-guages that Pi of. Wilson Is now in charge of. The college orchestia, which now numbers twelve pieces, Is pieparlng to give a series of dancing matinees .on Wednesday during the icmalndcrof of the winter. Heretofore these functions func-tions have pioved very populai among the students. In the class of Domestic Science the sophomoic class In Hygiene is studying study-ing "Home Nursing." The new equipment lias made this course a valuable val-uable one. The girls of the third year class in Domestic Aits aie at present drawing plans for a model kitchen and dining loom a new feature of the course. |
