Walters, foi-nierly foi-nierly city attorney, dellveied an Interesting In-teresting address upon "The Commercial Commer-cial Importance or the Notary Public." Pub-lic." He gave a brier history of the otllce, and discussed the eligibility of persons to tho position. The duties of a notary public, as picscrlbcd by faw, were then taken up by him and discussed In full. Ho closed his remarks re-marks by urging that the dignity of the office bo elevated Tiom Its present standard and stated as his opinion that a notary public should, at least, possess a fair knowledge or the statutes stat-utes regarding lands, etc. A vote of thanks was given him by the club. Recently they reorganized tho College Hank into a State Hank with a capital of $50,000, and under the title or the "Agricultural "Agricul-tural College Hanking Co. Mr. N. II. Moore, of the Looan Rk-ruiiMCAK, Rk-ruiiMCAK, will lecture before tho Commeiclal Club ncL Saturday on "The' Country Newspaper." This will be the last lectin o before the Christmas holidays, and a large audience audi-ence will bo present. An elfort is being made to change tho time or tho meeting or the Com-inoiclal Com-inoiclal Club so as to enable the class in United States History to bo piesent and derive a benefit from the woik done by that organization. |
