She went to Salt H Lake City In May for treatment and IH tho day following her arrival under- IH went an operation for the remoral of H a cancerous growth In the abdomen, a H condition neither she nor any other jjH knew existed. B The operation proved successful, H that is, the young lady rallied, and In IH the cou ise ofa month was biought to tjH her homo in Mcndon, Tho surgeons H In charge, while marvelling at her H rapid l ceo very fiom the operation, jH due to a wonderful vitality, dlscourag- H cd any hope of the patient's recovery, JH saying that It was Impossible for her iH to live any length of time, and it was IH Insisted that the family should under- iH stand the real racts, though Miss Jen- jH sen never suspected her leal condition jH at any time H For some time following her return H she was able to walk and seemed H to Improve, but about ono month ago iH developed a diopsical condition and H tills proved the Immediate cause of H liei death, although the statement of H tho attending physician is that at her H dcatli the cauccious growtli had re- H turned and was or twice the extent H that it was at tho operation. Her pupils loved IH her, hoi riicndsliad coiilldence in her IH and cliciished her as ono or a few H woitliy or tho highest trust. The H writer knew her Intimately for tlneo yeais, knows her associates, and can H say in strictest truth that ho never H heard Hannah Jensen speak an unkind B word of anyone, nor did he ever hear iH aught but kindly words for her. Sho was ono of those great-soulcd women H h: whose thoughts theio was no room for anything unkindly - instead, her l disposition was to offer excuse for H rather than to criticise Quiet, uti- IjH assuming, strung, witli a character and icputatiou Irreproachable, sho H was a woman of such present worth H and future promise that the soul cries 11 out against her going. Young, of ro- M bust stature, a capable nihid.a lovable, jjH helpful, uplifting disposition, a sweet, H pine and virtuous soul with great ca- B pacity for good and naught or evil, It seems strange that she should bo met iH by grim death at this point on tho IjH highway of life, and though the will jH submit, the soul asks "why V" M This Is ono of the severest griefs 11 the Presbyteilan elide of this city H lias over sullcrcd, and with the 1 stricken family- this cliclo in silence jjV sheds tears less copious, possibly, but M no less bitter. To tho father and the M mother and .sisters left to mourn, the IH heartfelt sympathy or all Is extended 1 In fullest measuro. jH i M |
