Mrs. Nielsen died at Shelley, Idaho, and of her life and death there Tlie Shelley' Pioneer has to say as follows: " 'Death Is another life," ' as Ilallcy has so beautifully expressed the thought. Yet, when one who Is honored hon-ored and respected In tho community takes that step, through death, Into the other.llfe, a pall of gloom and sadness sad-ness overwhelms us, and we bow In grief before tho Immutable law that, as life had a temporal beginning, so life must have a temporal ending. But "hope springs eternal in the breast," for "Death's but a path that must be trod. If man would ever pass to God." This community has been in mourn ing, throughout the week, caused by tho death, last Sunday night, November Novem-ber 24, of Mrs. Mathea Nielsen consort con-sort of our highly respected fellow citizen, Mr. A. M. Nielsen. Mrs. Nielsen had been a sufferer for some time with cancer of tho stomach, and her death was not unexpected, Mr. Nielsen having been recalled from his mission to Norway that he might see her again before the end. She was taken to Salt Lake twice to be operated operat-ed upon once before Mr. Nielsen's return and once since but the treatment treat-ment simply prolonged her life for a few months. A trip to the coast, In the hope of benefit to her health, was contemplated, but she was too weak to undergo the strain consequent upon so long a Journey. Mrs. Nielsen cashomat Christiana, Norway, In 1848, and was, therefore.GO yearsofage at the lime of her death. Early In her life she em braced the L. I I fH O, S. faith, being baptized the same iH evening as her husband In her uatlvo rH town In Norway. From that time un- jjH til her death she was a loyal, devoted, 1 zealous Christian, and died In full hope l ot her faith. 'liH Sho was a hotel housekeeper, an ex- a cmplary wife and a;good mother. Neat- 1'1H ness, which is but another namo for jI tidiness and cleanliness, was a uasslon ?l with her, so much so that one of her Wk last, requests was that she be given a fl neat burial, Iter wish was granted v ifll and strictly adhered to by Mr. Nielsen rIH and those who had the funeral and vl burial arrangements In charge. ' Her hotel was known and spoken ot tjl by all the traveling men as "home," iifH the place where they got meals "like Mil mother used to cook," the best hotel 'lH between Salt Lake and Huttc. ""(M Mrs. Nielsen will be sadly missed, ;4l not alono by her husband and child- ''31 rcn but by the cntlro community In ljiH which she had lived for tho past ten '"Hl years and of which sho was so worthy '.IH a member.
