Show A Pioneer Dead James Thurston, of Hyde Park, Goes Suddenly. James Thurston one of the early settlers of this valley died at his home In Hyde Park last Thursday morning, morn-ing, of general debility. The deceased was born in May, 1820, at Rumburg Abbey, Suffolk, England, and Joined the Mormon church Oct. 25, 1852; emigrated to Utah in 1860, and settled In Hyde Park where he lived since that time. The deceased leaves two families, comprising 18 children, and ninety grand children and twenty great grand children. Those who know him best are those who formed his acquaintance In the early settlement of this valley. He was of sturdy stock, and In the prime of his manhood was" an Incessant worker. He donated much of his time and means for the development of the county. The deceased was an unassuming man and his works always spoke louder than his words. He has raised a large family, and among them are some of the representative represen-tative men of the county and the settlements set-tlements in which they live. Among those may be mentioned Stephen and Simpson B. Thurston. " The deceased had been gradually declining de-clining for years and died without pain, falling onto his bed while dressing. dress-ing. The funeral will be held at Hyde Park at 1 p. m. Sunday. |
