"When A Man Sees Red," a special spe-cial super de luxe William Fox pho-todrama pho-todrama founded on the Larry Evans Ev-ans story of The Painted Lady, that was in the Saturday Evening Post, with the pre-eminent William Far-num Far-num in a stirring role, will be shown at the Oak Theater on Friday and Saturday, March 15 and 16. As Luther Smith, William Farn-um Farn-um gives a forceful and virile impersonation im-personation of a rough and ready sailor, rises above his surroundings and always keeps in mind the boyhood boy-hood teachings of his mother. Arriving home from a long voyage he finds that his mother had died of a broken heart caused by her being be-ing Jilted by a brutal sea captain and that his mother broken In health confides to her son the tragedy that bad happened in his absence. Soon after his mother dies, and Smith re-embarks re-embarks on a voyage tor the South Sea Isles on board a vessel, tha captain of which Is the one responsible respon-sible for his slstor's death. During the voyage, Smith while reading a family bible Is borated by the captain and In a tight which ensues, worsts the master 'of the ship. Smith then 'leaves the ship at one of the South Sea Isles. With him his left another sailor who cbnfldes to Smith that the master of the ship they had just left was the man who was responsible for his sister's death. Smith vows to Tiring the Captain Cap-tain to justice. Stopping at the same port was a private yacht with a party of men and women aboard from San Francisco. Fran-cisco. One of the girls known as Tho Painted Lady while in a native cafo Is attracted to the handsome sailor and their friendship ripens Into lovo. She tells- him that she Is not the sort of a girl for htm. The next day the yacht leaves the arbor. Smith gets sail to search for the sea captain but Is unable to locate the ship. He returns to the Island Just before a terrific storm comes up. This storm drives the yacht, on which is The Painted Lady, on the rocki, wrecking it, and casting the girl on shore. She Is rescued by the captain of the vessel, which Smith had left. He tries to make love to her, but she repulses him. Mad with rage he sets Ball for the 'port where be had left Smith and taking the girl ashore tries to sell her to the highest bidder among the natives. Smith hearing the commotion, arrives ar-rives in time to save the girl, and in a fight that follows kills thescap-taln. thescap-taln. He then takes The Painted Lady as his bride. |
