Show and particularly well pie ised at the receipt of a telegram from the chief clerk of the Idaho house of representatives advising advis-ing that the house his unanimously unanim-ously voted its best wishes and support and that it regrets the agitation against his being seated. On the first day of the new session the new Senators will be sworn in. Among those who will take oath of office will be Mr. Smoot of Utah, against whom on account of his connects connec-ts " with the Mormon church a J his alleged adherence to its tenets, old and new, a number of protests have been filed. These protests do net constitute proof, and, as Mr. Smoot's credentials are entirely regular, he will be i allowed to take his seat and the investigation, if one is to be made, will be postponed until rthe regulav session of Congress, j beginning in December next. ! If there shou'.d be objection to Mr. Smoot taking his seat, the ceremony under the rules of the Senate might be postponed for a day. It is intimated that there may be some descussion of his case during tbp extra session, ses-sion, but if so it v ou d precede all committee act on a id would come upjeither as a q jestion of privilege or in connection with tsome question. i TO FORCE TS ISSUE Senator Smoot Beady for Fray. WashingtonMarch 2. Apostle Reed Smoot called on the President Presi-dent today. In a Times mter- t view he said he will be ready to take his seat in the extra session as soon as the Senate convenes - in extra session. On the interposing inter-posing of objections he will ask immediate consideration and force the issue to a conclusion. !Washineton, March 1. Senator-elect Smoot today read with much interest the morning pa-pers pa-pers containing a telegram irom Salt Lake City to the effect that the Ministerial association deprecates de-precates the charges of poly-1" poly-1" gamy filed against him by Rev. Leiiich as tending to obscure the ; main issue raised against his being be-ing seated. Mr. Smoot was of th nnir,inn that the Ministerial association would be in fall sympathy with Mr. Leiiich, no matter how false his charges if they should accomplish what tne Ministerial association is trying to do keep him from being seated in the senate.
