Show OBJECT TO POSTMASTER. Mississippians Will Not Take Mail From Negro Postmaster. There can be no mistaking the fact that a large portion of the community is considerably wrought up over the action of the government in closing the postoffice at Indianola, Miss. The partial paralysis to business is being felt more and more. A private office has been established for the distribution distribu-tion of mail collected by an independent independ-ent messenger service from Heath-mann Heath-mann and Greenville. Both of these postoffices are being congested with mail as the result of the closing of this office. The independent office at Indianola In-dianola will be maintained at the expense ex-pense of the citizens. Senator McLaurin of Mississippi has conferred with Postmaster General Payne on 'the situation at Indianola where the postoffice has been closed as a result of antagonism to the negro postmaster. Senator McLaurin stated that he believed the office would be re opened this week. Mr. Payne said that the office will be reopened if there is no intimidation of the postmaster. |
