Show NEW SHOE AND HARNESS SHOP AT SMITHFIELD. The building erected by the United Order at Smithfield for the above purpose, is almost completed, and will be occupied by workmen in a few days. It is a convenient structure 17x44, well situated for business and is very well adapted to the purposes for which it was constructed. A salesroom 17x20, has been partitioned off in the front part of it, leaving a large, light and airy room in the rear for a workshop, which will accommodate a dozen or fifteen workmen. It is the design to manufacture into boots, shoes, harness, &c (etc.), the leather made in the U. O. Tannery, as they have a large stock of it on hand, for which no suitable market could be found. In its manufactured condition, however, there will be but little trouble in selling at fair prices. We think this move a most excellent one, and wish that those engaged in it may meet with the best success. |
