Show SOME NECESSARY IMPROVEMENTS. Considering the circumstances surrounding Logan at the time of its settlement and even now, and its population, the progress shown is something remarkable. Probably there is no place in the country where greater enterprise has been exhibited or where the fruits of industry are more apparent. But because of the great energy displayed, and the many improvements already consummated the lack of others is made more apparent. Prominent among the wants of Logan, is that of a public hall or place of amusement. At present the old Logan Hall is the only building of this kind, and the time of its usefulness has nearly passed away. It is utterly inadequate to accommodate an ordinary assemblage of people; and beside that, it is woefully shabby in appearance. Logan ought certainly to have a hall or halls, both for theatrical purposes and dancing, large enough to supply public demands, and handsome enough to be an ornament to this beautiful city. Another want is for increased hotel accommodation. Logan, as a health resort is becoming very popular beside being a rapidly growing business centre [center]; and in order that the town may receive the full benefit of her natural advantages and the enterprise of her inhabitants, nothing should be left undone, which if accomplished would bring the right kind of people here. There is now one good sized hotel in operation here; but we are satisfied that the town with the great and constantly increasing transient patronage, could easily support another and larger one. Who will be the first to project these improvements? Not only will the enterprising men who do so, advance their own personal interests, but they will become public benefactors. |
