Show People's Ticket continued: ON TUESDAY evening the Municipal Convention of the People's Party occurred in the City Hall in Logan. The meeting was called to order by E.D. Carpenter, Esq., chairman of the Central Committee. E.D. Carpenter was elected temporary chairman and James A. Leishman, temporary secretary. Following this, was the appointment of a committee on credentials, consisting of Messrs. Thatcher, Bell and Edlefsen?. After the report was presented, all of the delegates from the different wards were given their seats. John B. Thatcher, Esq., was then elected chairman of the meeting and J.A. Leishman, secretary. Upon motion, the chair appointed Messrs. Blair, Partington and Apperley a committee on nomination. These gentlemen retired; and after some little time had elapsed, returned with a ticket which they had prepared. Each name was taken up separately and acted upon. Some changes were made; and the result of the voting is shown by the ticket printed at the head of this column. Great unanimity marked the whole proceedings; and at the close the nominations were voted upon together, and were sustained by all of the delegates present. The men who were sent to represent the people did their duty well; and now it only remains for their acts to be endorsed by giving to the nominees every vote from the people's party on election day. This is something which should not be lightly looked upon. The registry list shows how many legal voters there are in Logan, and no person who has the privilege of casting a ballot should fail to exercise his right. Every citizen has or ought to have an interest in this matter and therefore he ought to allow no feeling of carelessness or private pique to deter him from voting for men who have been the people's choice. |
