Show TERRITORIAL TALK. According to the Junction Odgen has a big mining excitement. FROM THE NEWS: Elder David Fullmer, of the 6th Ward, Salt Lake city, one of Utah's early settlers and a survivor of Haun's mill massacre, died on the night of the 21st inst., at his residence, at 20 minutes after 11 o'clock. He was born July 7th, 1803, in Chillsquaque Township, Northumberland county, Pennsylvania; and was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in September 1830. At the time of his decease he was in full fellowship, beloved and respected by all his associates, and after a long and eventful life has departed for a brighter and better sphere, to await the morning of the resurrection of the just.

A JEW named Berger, sentenced two years ago to the Penitentiary for grand larceny, for a term of six years, has been pardoned by the Governor, and is now on his way to Germany, his native land. The reason he was pardoned, is reported as follows: He had been tried in the police court for some offense and sentenced to six months in the chain gang, and thinking to obtain a release therefrom, informed the United States Marshal that he had stolen a span of mules in Weber county, expecting by the time his trial came off that his term in the city gang would have expired, and that he could then easily refute the evidence brought to fasten the theft of the mules upon him. Contrary to expectation, however, he was allowed to remain in the chain gang until his trial for grand larceny was nigh at hand, and still more to his surprise was found guilty of stealing the mules and sentenced for six years. Governor Emery, on learning of the matter, a few days ago, pardoned Berger, who, by his two years of penal servitude has probably learned how undesirable is the office of an "informer" especially when the boomerang comes back as it did in this case.

ELDER RUDGER Clawson is on his way home. He telegraphs from Chattanooga, Tenn., that he intended starting for Salt Lake on the night of the 24th inst. but would tarry a day or two in St. Lewis. The murderers of Elder Standing have been acquitted of the charge of riot.

THE U. S.
