Incline thine ear unto wisdom and apply thine heart to understanding. With all thy getting get understanding. Hear counsel and receive instruction that thou mayst be wise. One of the best ways to carry out the above counsel is to read good books, of which you will find a good supply at the Book Store. THAT AMPUTATION. The amputation of the leg of Mr. H. Hansen of the 4th ward, to which reference was made in our last issue, was performed by Drs. Grosbeck and Cranney assisted by Eli Bell instead of Drs. Groesbeck and Lamoreaux, as our information had it. We make this small correction by special request of the patient who states that he is receiving careful attention from Dr. Groesbeck and that his limb is progressing favorably. BODY FOUND. About two weeks ago, a carpenter, or bridgeman employed on the U. & N. while working on a bridge across Snake river, fell into the river and was carried over the falls a short distance below. An unsuccessful attempt was made at the time to recover the body, but nothing was seen of it until Wednesday, when it was found floating in the river. It was recovered and on the following day sent east for interment. TRAIN WRECKED. Yesterday a train of six cars were wrecked on the U. & N. near Pocatello at a point where the road leaves the old bed to follow for some distance the grade of the Oregon Short Line. There is a sharp curve here and the train in rounding it jumped the track. No person was hurt, but one mule was killed and another so badly injured that it had to be shot. HAD A FALL. A carpenter employed on the Foundry building, on Wednesday last had a fall which might have resulted seriously. In fact it is a wonder that it did not. He was working on the upper joists, and fell head first, from them. He turned a somersault while descending and alighted on his feet unhurt. This trick, though new will prove dangerous if tried too often. NO. 1026 NOTICE FOR PUBLICATION. Land Office at Salt Lake City. June 20th, 1882.
