At 12.30 a bounteous din-n- et was served to 123 people which gave evidence of the ability of our committee as excellent cooks and good managers. An interesting program consisting of speeches, songs, readings and music was given. A grand ball for the married people was held in the evening which was attended by a goodly number. The Harris orchestra of Logan furnished the music. The committee called into action other workers who assisted in serving tables and careful consideration was given to all. The Primary association of the ward held their annual conference Sunday evening. As evidence of the interest manifested 225 persons were present to participate and enjoy the program. Class exercises were from each department so carefully planned and so well portrayed that the parents were enraptured from the first number to the benediction. The prayers were by Esther Israelson and Merlin King. The Ralph Smith camp of daughters of Utah pioneers met at the home of Mrs. Annie H. Kemp Thursday at 8 p. m. with President Jennie Israelson in charge. The following program was ren-- . dered: Prayer Sadie H. Nyman;the slogan and report of the officers meeting held at Logan were under the direction of Pres. Jennie Israelson. History of the monument Ode to The Seagulls was given by Mrs. Rosamond Nyman; piano solo, Miss Olive Kemp; Landmarks of Utah, Mrs. Jennie Israelson. Mrs. Marian Folkman gave a short history of her own life. A social hour was spent during which refreshments were served to eighteen members by Mrs. Kemp and Mrs. Stella Christensen. From Salt Lake City has come the glad news of the safe arrival of a baby girl to Mr. and Mrs, Benny Burger. Mrs. Albert Stauffer, mother of Mrs. Berger, left Monday for Salt Lake City to visit and get acquainted with her new grand child. Miss Lucile Beutler Ls visiting in Weston with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Beutler of Dayton, Idaho were.visitoiv,,in the ward Thursday. Mrs. Andrew King ls visiting In Lewiston with her daughter Mrs. Eliza Wiser. Mrs. Edna Burrell of Avon ls spending the week In the ward. Elam Cronqulst left the first of the week for California on business and pleasure. The North Logan ward Mutuals presented their three act comedy drama "The Colonels Maid at River Heights Friday evening and at Nibley Monday evening, to a large and appreciative audience. Mr. and Mrs. Wilburn Moosman are moving to Benson ward having recently the purchased Joseph Holmes property. W. E. Nyman has been busy assessing in our precinct. Frank Card and Eleck Darling returned home from Salt Lake City Tuesday where they attended the big auto show. They report over $500,000 worth of automobiles were displayed In elaborate fashion. under the largest tent ever erected In Utah. Messrs. Orvin Nyman and Walter Stauffer left on Wednesday for California on business and pleasure. A. B. Nyman was in Ogden Wednesday on business. Scoutmaster Wesley Johnson Is attending the Scout Leaders Training school at the U. A. C. North Logan is growing. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Nyman are the proud parents of a fine son which arrived Tuesday morning, the first in 8 years. Mr. and Mrs. John Krebs also announce the safe arrival on Friday of an eight pound son. Mrs. Darling was given a pleasant surprise Wednesday evening by a few friends, the occasion being her eighth birthday anniversary. The evening was spent in social chat. Refreshments were served . We love to tell our children that to these United States come the oppressed and down trodden of other countries to find a free opporumty for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Yet in the day to day life of home and neighborhood we mention with unconscious contempt certain national and race groups within our community; we even may speak with open derision of those whose religious beliefs differ too radically fronCour 'Swn' ' On crowded streets and public conveyances the child observes our obvious shrinking from those who are too shabby and unwashed. They note the tone of voice we use to those who serve us. If it Implies superiority, the child will also clip his speech to menials short of courtesy. If we Nyman and children spent at Dayton, Idaho. We can allow our children to choose their friends regardless of race or creed In the neighborhood in which they live. We can give our children books which will tell them something of the cultural achievements of other peoples.
