employment in the Governor’s Board Room Monday evening The hearing was the first of five planned sessions dealing with issues the Republicans feel will be central to the gubernatorial campaign this year Richard Eyre chairman of the commission said a wide variety of experts were scheduled to testify at Monday's hearing including Fred Ball executive director of the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and Ed Maync of the Utah AFL-CIThe Republican Governor Commission has also scheduled hearings on Taxation and Revenue on March 9: Responsiveness and Competence in State Government March 19 were designed to gather information on the important issues to help formulate policy stands for Republican gubernatorial candidates He also said it would show the Republican Party's interest in working toward solving the problems of the state "We are excited about the potential for real substance and fresh ideas emerging from the five public hearings we have scheduled" said Akerlow “We will try to arrange the order of testimonies so that newsworthy items and n speakers will be at the beginning of well-know- the hearings" But not to be outdone Shea scheduled a news conference to talk about Democratic stands on the issues His news conference was also scheduled in the Governor's Board Room just a couple of hours before the Republican-sponsored hearing Shea has repeatedly said the Democrats have been the ones who have sincerely studied the issues and the Republicans are jumping on the bandowagon just because it is an election year Panhandle storm Obituaries leads to wrecks E
