trade in Utah DWR law enforcement officials said the hides were illegally taken from Utah to Colorado Idaho Nevada eud Arizona where the hunters obtained the tags necessary for sale of the pelts to fur trading companies Utah law limits hunters and trappers to four bobcat tags anntully Unlimited tags are available in surrounding states DWR officials said the hunters and trappers were licenses trapping purchasing bobcats in Utah and transporting the pelts into the states for which they had nonresident trapping licenses Bobcat pelts bring $250 to $400 on the current fur market Jim Ware DWR law enforcement chief said the activities were uncovered with the help of Fish and Wildlife Service officials ring “The illegal harvest (of bobcats) in all could far exceed the legal harvest" Ware said “My own gut reaction is that it's possible that some 10000 bobcats are being harvested annually in Utah" Ware said there were 669 permits purchased by Utah residents for the Utah bobcat 31 Permit
