Dr. Richards, in consequence of his acquaintance with this region has written the history of Mendon, Wellsville and Cache Vailey. He lias also written the first and only comjjlcte history of the Mormon church in Italy. His next alma mater was Deseret university, being favored with the wise instruction of Dr. John R. Iark, Brof. J. B. Toronto, Doctors J. T. Kingsbury, J. H. Paul ami Howard. The doctor's next seminary of learning was the University of he was Michigan, from which graduated in the year 1k;k) with the degree of LL.B. He remained in this university for a postgraduate course and was awarded the degree of LL.M. in lb91. In the spring of 1H92, he went to Paris, France, and Geneva, Switzerland and entered the University as a student of Roman Law and the Napoleon Code. He was awarded the degree of Licencie en Droit, the equivalent of LL.B. He remained in the university for another year and was accorded the degree of Doctor of Laws. Mr. and Mrs. Elias Doney and Mr. and Mrs. Grant Doney spent Sunday at Logan at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Merio Neeley. Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Fuhriman were in Ogden Sunday visiting with relatives. Mrs. Fuhrimans sister Miss Lois Robbins of Plain City accompanied them home for a few days' stay. Mrs. Alden Lillywhite of Washington, D. C. and Miss Bernice Noble of Smithfield were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Marlow Woodward at their home Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Woodward are leaving next week for Mink Creek where Mr. Woodward will begin his work as instructor in the high school. Mr. and Mrs. Garth Woodward left Monday on a vacation trip to the Yellowstone park. Miss Delores Kirby and Earl Christensen of Glencoe accompanied them on the trip. Mrs. Sarah Bennett of Smith-fiel- d spent a few days last week visiting at the home of her sisters, Miss Maggie Wright and Mrs. Lizzie Webb. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Allen and family made a trip to Perry, Utah, Sunday. Their daughter, Beth, returned home with them after visiting a week at the home of her uncle there.. Dr. Daniel B. Richards, a native at northern Utah, has announced his candidacy for district judge ot the First Judicial district of Utah, comprising 'ache, Boxelder and Rich counties, on the Republican ticket. Dr. Richards is amply qualified for this offue. Ho is a man of excehent ediua'ioii and abundant experience which were all gained bv hard labor of from twelve to eighteen hours daily, his well-laiplans for future purposes always being considered. Mill Creek, Utah, is the place of his birth and first education, thence to Mendon. Utah, being one of the very first pioneers of Cache countv, where the Richards family settled in the spring of lsaii. During his growth he worked on the farm and was the first boy on the west sale of Cache Valley to attend college in Logan, the first college being the Cache Valley seminary with James Leish-malrof.
