He is placed in the role of captain of the five because of his ability to lead a team through the most trying conditions. Where Petty is clever and smooth, Ryan is rugged. He is probably the best rugged player ever seen in the confefence. Marlow Turpin of Brigham Young is placed on the second team at forward because of his passgreat ball rustling and clever meming. He was an outstanding ber of the Cougar team before an injury slowed him up in the second half of the race. ' - - With him is Bill Ogle, flashy Montana State offense leader. A shade behind him, however, is Eldon Watson, Utah State center, who has played a steady game throughout the season. Rollie Gardner of Utah State of Cannon and Captain Hugh Brigham Young, the most consistent players in the western division, are head and shoulders above the guards. Gardner is the man in the swiftest defensive conference and has starred in each appearance of his team. Cannon, generally an exceedingly temperamental player, has turninto the right ed his disposition channel and has become a demon both in each of the Cougar games during the season and like Gardner has not experienced an "off night Outstanding in his feats is the fact that he completely outplayed Bill Kinner in each of the four games the Cougars and Utes played. Virgil Janies, Utah's rustling guard, is placed on the second team with Wade of the Aggies James has developed into one of the division's outstanding guards and is largely responsible for Utah's victories. Wade s chief asset is his ability to take the ball from the backboard and in breaking offensive drives.
