Cont jictors are at work building cement steps up the main walk leading to the college from Seventh East at Fifth North. The steps are the gift of the 1931 graduating class and are expected to be ready for the opening of school Monday. Each meeting brought out many residents, and some lively discussions of school matters ensued. By keeping track of the number of school houses it was almost possible with mathematical accuracy to get a census from time to time of the young people of Logan. Overcrowded conditions were met with in the early day schools of the city just as they are today. The minutes of meetings of the board of trustees from time to time record plans for building a new school house, or renting some other quarters to take care of the student overflow. Busy as were ihe trustees with financial and general education problems. they never failed to consider needs for sanitation improvements as the following recorded minutes of a school board session April 19, 1880, indicate: A. Crockett was authorized to see to the construction of extra outhouses at each of the schools. It was decided to have the trees trimmed, and the underbrush cut out of the lot on Island (a section of the city forming the south portion un df We Oi Savings Reserve The Right To Limit Quantity!
