V And nothing will cause a ball Babe Ruth's salary to $70, Wi year. Don't let em do it, Babe that's less than Pres! lent Why, Hoover gets! From Mexico on the south and Canada on the north, there come heartwarming assurances that these great nations will be with us in case Oriental aggression menaces the Pacific coast. That is as it should be. All three nations have decided that Americas n slope shall be inhabited and built up by white people, for the benefit of white people. There is no question of right or wrong about this. It is our country; we have the right to say by what sort of people it shall be colonized. Those of us who live in the west are, broadly speaking, still pioneers. Great stretches of our glorious country still remain to be settled. They are going to be settled by peoples of our own choosing. The United States is like an army, with Canada and Mexico as its flanking forces. Were either neighbor to line up with our enemies we should be in a precarious position. Similarly, our neighbors, without us, would be like an army with two flanks and no center. Somewhat like our rebellious forefathers, we must hang together lest we hang separately. A united front on the Pacific coast is the surest guarantee for peace. Let us maintain it at all costs.
