After leaving the government service he engaged in the candy manufacturing business and with his spn, Robert. Jr., founded the first of this kind in logon. Tailiug health caused him to withdraw from this business several years ago. Mr. Murdock was always of a very charitable disposition, giving at all times to any worthy person - or enterprise. While in his prime, he was continually giving of his means and time to the sick and afflicted. He was a faithful member of the L. D. S. church also. Surviving are his widow and the following children: Mrs. G. W. Cole, Mrs. C. W. Jones, Mrs. B. T. Cardon, Mrs. E. P. Reid and Mrs. Gladys Baugh. Two children have died. Twenty nine grandchildren and 12 also survive. 1 LN 1863 Mr. Murdock was born February 28, 1853, in Dundee, Scotland, the son of Robert and Euphemia Shepard Murdock. He camq to Utah with his parents when eight years old and after two years in Salt came to Lake and Farmington, Logan in 1863. During his early manhood. Mr. Murdock worked with his lather who was a stone mason and farmer. In November, 1874, he married Johanna Nelson. Tltb lave 'lived together continuously .for 58 years. Shortly after his marriage, he went to work in Logan canyon getting out timber for lumber and fuel purposes.
