These Melvin Burke and Levi Myers. BURKE WON HONORS EARLY Burke started his running the national early, copping high school mile run at Chicago while a member of the Boxelder high school. At that time, he was clocked in 4:19. During his collegiate career, the Aggies won four successive conference track and field titles and Burke usually contributed upwards of 10 points. He was a certain winner of both the mile and two mile runs and sometimes garnered run poir.tage in the also. He established no records which stood for any length of time in the conference, probably because he entered so many events and did not attempt to specialize. In practice, Romney has clocked Burke at 4:16 on several occasions in the mile run. Burke is taking work at the Utah State Agricultural college at the present time and is taking daily workouts, for the conditioning himself tests next summer. Myers is a young speed merchant who graduated from college last year. He hung up a new mark in the 440 yard dash d but expects to enter the event in the Olympics. Like Burke, his efforts were split up In so many different divisions in an effort to bring the Aggies extra points, that he was handicapped throughout college. He has a remarkable stride and wonderful endurance. Coach Romney is authority for the statement that if Mouser had concentrated on the mile, he would probably have been the outstanding miler in the United States. It is apparently as easy for him to run the longer race at a killing pace as the shorter events. He is at his home in h at the present time but is expected to enter training shortly for the big events. 880-ya- as Olympic possibilities. 37-2- 9 The Piggly Wiggly basketball-er- s moved their winning streak up another notch at the expense of the Als Bike Shop crew Thursday night, the final score being Sorenson was the high scoring player of the game with 16 points. The game uiis played in the Junior high school gym. The score: These are Ned McBeth and Dean McAllister. Both established outstanding records in the four years they attended the local school and Coach Romney is urging them to carry on. Four boxing entries stand out.
