Tile interstate commerce commission proposed file plan yesterday m rcjpiting tile earners petition for a blanket 15 per cent rate increase. It contemplates a huge pool of miliums of dollars, accrued through widely spread but small rate for the benefit of roads m financial distress. The increases would have scarcely any effect upon the average citizen. As a companion rlfoit to the $500, 000,000 National Credit corporation and the pioposed in the real esimprovement tate and home building situations. the railroad plan would marshal from $100 000. out) to $125,000,000 for another industry weakened by the strain of adverse business conditions and vitiated credit. By making its counter proposal, the commission was believed to have averted for the time being at least any fuithcr speculation regarding wage reductions for rail workers surh as a flat denial probably would have occasioned. Who are the enemies of the Light Plant? Is it William Evans Jr., candidate for mayor? Does not the Mayor know his record and his attitude in this respect? Does the Mayor disbelieve his word when he knows emphatically how he stands? Mr. Evans was auditor of Logan City for four years and no one ever criticized his record at that time or since. He has always supported the Light Plant. He is now stake superintendent of Sunday Schools of the Cache Stake, and a memb r of the high council of that stake. In all of his public aAd private business we have never heard of anyone questioning his honesty and integrity. Mr. Evans now says, as he has always done and said, that he will support and protect the Light Plant in every way. Is this not enough to satisfy all except the chosen few who think every one is dis- honest except themselves? Is it George W. Lindquist, candidate for commissioner? Mr. Lindquist 'was interested in and supporting the Light Plant many years before Mayor Lundstrom was a resident of Logan, He was president of the city council when the first light plant was completed and was 100 per cent in favor of it. There are no doubt some things that may he said adverse to Mr. Lindquist as with all the rest of us, but one thing that cannot be said is that he is not honest. He has lived in Logan all his life; he has held high office in the city and in the church and no one yet lias ever intimated that he was not honest, truthful and trustworthy. Now Mr. Lindquist has emphatically said that he will support and defend the Light Plant. Is this not sufficient? Is there anyone in Logan City who is so warped and twisted and perverted in mind and soul that they will say that he is an enemy of the Light Plant? With a man the type of Mr. Lindquist in the city commission the citizens have nothing to fear and we believe that it is only willful men who will not agree with us. The Mayor would have you believe that he is crowned with a special HALO which makes him and him alone immune to the influences of the POWER TRUSTS. In short the Mayor would have us believe no one but the Mayor can be trusted to handle the Light Plant. We assure the Mayor that the Light Plant 'will be with us long after he has departed. so-call- ed UNITED LOGAN ORGANIZATION IJy Edward S. Chambers, Chairman.
