American Fork Copper Refinery Planned By Kenneeott Still in the blueprint stage is a twelve-million-dollar construction job for a copper refinery planned by the Kenneeott Copper Company. Com-pany. This plant when completed will employ between 400 and 1000 men. As a preliminary step, an anode plant to further refine copper cop-per for use in the new plant is underway. The finished products of these plants will make possible the location' in Utah of copper fabricating fab-ricating plants. These plants will have favorable advantage over At a cost of $6,800,000 the A-merican A-merican Smelting and Refining Company will construct at Garfield, Gar-field, Utah, a Sulphuric Acid plant with a capacity of 500 tons per day which will employ seventy-five seventy-five men. Jesse M. Walker has charge of the work. Thomas A. Greenwood was sustained sus-tained as bishop of the first ward at conference held Sunday evening. This process dries the lumber to the desired condition for mill work Maraschino Cherry New Utah Industry A new industry processing of Utah cherries for maraschino cherries cher-ries was started this year by two large friut companies one from California and the other from Oregon. Several thousand tons of maraschino processed cherries will be shipped from northern Utah this year during the cherry season just closing. The cherries are treated in a brine solution, sulphur sul-phur dioxide and lime, which removes re-moves the color and sugar and hardens the fruit. The cherries are then shipped to the main plants of the companies where they are artificially colored and sweetened. Fire Fighting Equipment Company Establishes Utah Offices Encouragement offered by the Utah pepartment of Publicity and Industrial Development to out-of- state industry to open branch of fices in Utah netted results this month with the opening of branch office in Salt Lake City by the American Elkhart Company, a division of the American Fire E- quipment Company operating major west coast cities.
