LaTona Mrs. George Jaynes, Pleasant Grove, delightfully reviewed the story of the opera "Faust" (Wagner) (Wag-ner) and played recordings of some of the principal numbers before members of the LaTona Music club Wednesday of last week. Literary League Fourteenth anniversary dinner of the Literary League was held Monday evening at Alpine Grille with 28 ladies in attendance. The theme I'Friendship" was carried out in the program and the place cards were outstretched hands with pages which jeach member autographed. Mrs. Eldon J. Miller was toastmistress. Toast to the president, Mrs. Stanford Wilde, was proposed by Mrs. LaVere J. Wadley; to the incoming president, presi-dent, Mrs. Stanford Briggs, by Mrs. J. Stanley Peters; to Friendship Friend-ship toy Mrs. C. A. Grant. Music included group singing of their "Pal Song", a solo "Friendship" by "Mrs. Ross Buckwalter; a trio April Showers" by Mrs. Wilde, Mrs. Wendell Kirkpatrick, and Mrs. Joseph Martinez. Mrs. Wilde cut and served the birthday cake which centered the table and Mrs. D. Grant Ingersoll lead in games following dinner. Fifth Ward Girls Receive Certificates In special exercises Sunday evening In the Fifth ward seventeen seven-teen young women received Latter-day Saint Girls certificates of award having filled the requirements re-quirements of this teen-age organization. or-ganization. Mrs. Ralph Hug-gard, Hug-gard, chairman, was in charge. Mrs. Alvin Teuscher, stake LDS girls leader was in attendance and spoke. The certificates were presented by the group leaders Mrs. Moral D. Steele, Mrs. Jesse Duffin, Mrs. A. F. Coleman, and Mrs. S. F. Grant. Mrs. Ralph Hoggard, chairman, Mrs. Dean Deveraux and Mrs. Stanford Dahl head the organization in this ward. Each girl was also presented with a lovely rose and sweet pea corsage. Mrs. Clark Tolton gave the lesson "The Tools of Life Action" and Mrs. Howard Christensen took charge. Re freshments were served to 16 ladies. Birthday Club Mr. and Mrs. G. Watson Eatough and Mr. and Mrs. Phil O. Smith were hosts at the Eatough home Thursday night to the Birthday club. Spring flowers made attractive home decorations. Bingo was the di version with nine prizes being awarded. A delicious lunch was served by the hostesses. Legion Auxiliary Meeting of the American Leg ion Auxiliary, which was post ooned last week, will be held Wednesday, April 28, in the Leg ion Hall. Mrs. Earl Ferguson, chairman of Child Welfare, will have charge of the program, and Mrs. Mable Jones, district health nurse, will be the speaker. All members are urged to attend. , Birthday Party The birthday of Mrs. William D. Stewart was the occasion for a party Monday. Her daughters, daughters-in-laws, and sisters enjoyed chicken dinner at the Owl Inn and then returned to the Stewart home for visiting.
