A large pink and white birthday cake with candles was served. Mrs. Junius Banks returned home Friday after spending a week in Salt ake City with her daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Myron Burgess. Mrs. Lynn Lewis will entertain her bridge club Friday evening. Members of the Seminary, accompanied ac-companied by Principal Lester M. Norberg, attended the Passion Play in Salt Lake City Tuesday afternoon. The Junior Prom committee at the high school, under the direction direc-tion of Bob Allred, chairman, are readying plans for the prom March 28. The theme is "In the Still of the Night." Other committee members mem-bers are Sherman Ingram, Grant Smith, Gloria Brooks, Beverlee Winegar and Geraldine Hitchcock. Mrs. Earl G. Beck is spending some weeks getting acquainted with a new little granddaughter at Elberta, Utah. The baby was born to Mr. and Mrs. Kay Jolley at the Payson Hospital, on the last night of the old year, and has been called Carol Jolley. Mrs. Jolley will be remembered by her friends in Lehi as the former Carol Beck. Earl Beck and son, Treston, visited at the Jolley home in Elberta on Wednesday, enjoying the new baby, the first grandchild for Mr. and Mrs. Beck and the eighteenth for Mr. and Mrs. Arthur V Jolley of Payson, Utah. A. H. Warnick, former basket ball coach of Lehi, who now resides re-sides in Pleasant Grove, was the speaker in the Fifth ward Sunday evening. Music was furnished by the Third ward choir, directed by frank w. Jones. o - The new board of the Lehi Rid ing Club, E. J. Christofferson, Ward Webb. Dean Wilcox, and Harold W. Barnes, met at the Webb home Tuesday evening to discuss plans for the year s pro gram. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Loveridere attended the Passion Play in Salt Lake City Wednesday evening. Mrs. Joseph Rothe is reported feeling better, having been ill for a week. Among relatives attending the funeral for Reed Taylor last week were Mr. and Mrs. Irvin T. Jones, Mrs. Charlotte .Beard and Mrs. Ruth Ball of Henefer, Mrs. Gladys Deardon of Heber, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fowers of Hooper, and Mrs. Evelyn Peterson of Ogden. The little son of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Loveridge, who has been very ill, is reported much improved. Beth Adam son and Margaret Worlton. both freshman students at the USAC in Logan, were recently pledged to the Alpha Chi Omega sorority on the campus. Mrs. Lettie Gudmundsen is spending the winter in Inglewood, Calif., with Mr. and Mrs. Austin Gudmundsen and family. Mrs. Geneva Stewart has returned re-turned home from North Hollywood, Holly-wood, Calif., where she has spent the last three months visiting with her son, Russell, who is an announcer an-nouncer at KFI, Los Angeles. Virgil Thomas To Marry A. F. GW Mr. and Mrs. William D. Baxter of American Fork are announcing the approaching marriage of their granddaughter, Miss Lois Baxter, daughter of William F. and the late Margaret Edith Baxter, to Virgil Thomas, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Thomas of Lehi. The young couple will be united in marriage at the home of the bride's grandparents, grand-parents, January 25. The bride-to-be attended the American Fork high school, and Mr. Thomas is a former student of the Lehi high school. He is employed em-ployed by the Union Pacific Railroad Rail-road Co, at Lehi, where the couple plan to make their home. Twenty-five members of the Anderson An-derson and Goates families met at the home of A. B. Anderson Saturday Sat-urday for a social evening, honoring honor-ing four family members, Evans L. Anderson, retiring bishop; Warren L. Goates and Herman C. Goates, newly chosen bishops, and Ralph Anderson, just released from the army. Louis Phillips of Parma, Ida., visited with his mother, Mrs. Alice L. Phillips, during the week-end and the fore part of the. week. Mr. and Mrs. Cleon Leany arrived ar-rived home Sunday from a delightful delight-ful honeymoon trip to California, Mrs. Leany is the former Relva Larsen Wagstaff. Centennial Queen to Be Honored Consummating weeks of preparation, prepara-tion, the Pioneer organizations, the Daughters and Sons of the Pion eers, have arranged for an honor program for Thursday, Jan. 30 at 8:00 p.m. in the High School auditorium audi-torium to pay tribute to the Utah centennial queen, Miss Nadine Mitchell Mit-chell of Provo, and her two attendants, attend-ants, Beverly Powell and Glenda Hunger, local girls who have brought a distinct honor to our city. A splendid Pioneer program has been arranged for the occasion. The local organizations are sponsoring spon-soring the program with the officials' of-ficials' endorsement and support. A meeting was held at the home of Inez Peterson, captain of the Fort Wall Camp of the D.U.P. Sunday to discuss plans for the program. THURSDAY, JANUARY,, La Venna Thomas Became Bride On Jan. 8 Mr. and Mrs. George Thomas are announcing the marriage of their daughter, La Venna, and Mel-vin Mel-vin Thompson of Boulder, Utah, the marriage taking place at Provo, January 8. Judge Joseph E. Nelson officiated at the ceremony cere-mony in the presence of the bride's father and the groom's sister, Mrs. Myrtle Woolsey. The bride wore a black-and-white checked suit with black accessories. The bride is a former student of the Lehi high school. The groom recently was released from the U. S. Navy, after two years service. , The newlyweds plan to make their home at Boulder. Douglas Willes and family, who have been living in Parma, Ida., are moving back to Lehi.
