Show THURSDAY, AUGUST 8, 1945 THE LEHI SUN, LEHI, UTAH THURSDAY, AUGUST 8, 1946 With Our Boys Mr. and Mrs. John Hutchings received re-ceived visits from two young people, peo-ple, last week, who have recently seen and talked with their son, La Mar (Bud) Hutchings, and Roy Haycock in the Panama Canal Zone. A Miss Rassmussen, of Nephi, called Friday. She returned a short time ago after 15 months in civil service work there. Sunday, Mr. Vance of Tooele, recently discharged discharg-ed from the Navy came to their home. He is a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. George Lott, here. He had attended at-tended church with the two boys in Panama, coming in from the Atlantic At-lantic side. Both had left the area before the occurrence of the accident in which young Hutchings narrowly escaped death. Thrown from a jeep in a regular run from Fort Kobbe, he i returned with them to the dispens-was dispens-was bruised and his spine severely ary at Ft; Iobbe. "Bud" has since wrenched when the vehicle over turned. The driver, a lieutenant, was blinded by the lights of an approaching ap-proaching car and the machine plowed off the road into a soft shoulder. The lieutenant was pinned pin-ned underneath, miraculously remaining re-maining alive and conscious. Lynn Norberg, 1st Lieutenant in the AAF, son of Bishop and Mrs. Lester M. Norberfr, returned home, Thursday, from Grand Island, Nebraska, Ne-braska, for a two weeks furlough. In the service three and a half years, he arrived last month from the Hawaiian islands, where he aided in the assignment of returning return-ing the B-29 planes. This is his first visit to hs wife and parents since last September. He will return to Nebraska for further assignment. Rex Losee, Chief Electrician in Merchant Marines, arrived last Wednesday for a two weeks' stay with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew An-drew Losee. Aboard the SS Golden Rocket, Mr. Losee returned to San Francisco from a voyage through South Pacific waters at Guam and Saipan. He states that the climate there is cooler than the weather here at present. His Bhip has been sold to the US Navy, and he expects to receive an assignment on a new ship as Chief Electrician, having passed the ne- xessary tests at San Francisco some ,time ago. W Mr. and Mrs. Bernell Bateman received re-ceived a letter from their son, SSgt. La Var Bateman, stating that he has lef China, July 25, on his return to the United States, where he expects discharge. The news came as a distinct relief re-lief to the family, as La Var has been stationed with the Marine Corps in northern China near Pei-ping Pei-ping where a recent attack by Chinese Chi-nese Communist troops cost the lives of four American Marines. Adm. Charles M. Cook, Jr., in charge there recently issued the statement that the Marines will fight back if any further attacks occur, lwo years m tne service, with 18 months overseas, SSgt.
