Provo at torney announced Saturday that he will seek the Republican nomination nom-ination for District Attorney for the Fourth Judicial District which covers Utah, Wasatch, Duchesne Du-chesne and Uintah counties. Mr. Blackham is the second candidate to formally announce for this post. First to seek the nomination was Mitchell M. Carter, Provo, also a Republican. Mr. Blackham moved to Provo in 1946 and in early 1947 opened law offices there as a member of the firm of Sandgren and Blackham. Black-ham. He served in the army during the First World War, and after his discharge filled a mission for the LDS church. The constitution and by-laws of the club, drafted and presented present-ed by the committee comprised of Mrs. J. L. Mower, Mrs. Lila O. Hansen and Mrs. Alfred Hayes, were adopted. Mrs. Mower was elected to the office of two year advisor and Clyde Konold to the office oi one year advisor. ' These with the officers elected at the last meeting meet-ing complete the board of directors. direc-tors. Tne organization becomes affiliated with the state organization organi-zation and is in line for assistance assist-ance with programs, and hdp from that organization. A program committee was named consisting of Mrs. Mower, chairman. Mrs. D. W. Jones and Alfred Hayes, members. The membership committee is comprised com-prised of Clyde Konold, chairman; chair-man; Mrs. Clyde Konold and Mrs. Lila O. Hansen. Mrs. J. W. Phillips Phil-lips was made reporter. The balance of the evening was spent in viewing a colorful film of choice varieties of iris and gladioli grown in this county. The film was sent over from Provo by M. D. Wallace of the BYU and Dr. C. R. Anderson- vice president of the new club here took over the showing of the films. The next meeting of the club will be held Monday night, April 26, in the city hall. The program committee will have a good pro gram ready, centering primarily on planning for beautification of home surroundings. A member ship drive will be conducted soon and everyone is welcome to join the club. Soil Conservation Plan Approved Completed farm plans on nine farms at Manila, covering a five year period were discussed and approved at the meeting held Monday, March 29. This was the second meeting with the conser vation group. The conservation work to be established in the Manila area is the leveling of 167 acres of land, placing of 200 linear feet of concrete irrigation pipe, build ing 62 irrgiation structures, 440 rods of fencing, removal of 400 old fruit trees and planting of 500 trees, and planting of 13 acres to pasture. Other practices to be establish ed are crop rotation, cover crops, use of green manure, fertilizing rodent control, drainage, and farm ponds. Present at the meeting were Leo P. Harvey, supervisor of the Alpine soil conservation district. Keith Jacobs, Nyal Wadley, Mer rill Warnick, William M. Richard son, Pleasant Grove, H. Dee Han sen, Lehi, and J. Dale Schott, Provo, district conservationist. Graveside Service Held For Wing Infant Graveside services were conducted con-ducted Monday at 12:30 in the American Fork cemetery for the infant son of Niles and La Von King Wing. The child was born Sunday morning and died the same day. Brief remarks were made by Leo T. Hansen, bishop of the Fourth ward, and the grave was dedicated by Norman B. Wing. Besides the parents survivors include a sister, Sharon Wing, and three grandparents, Norman A. Wing, American Fork, and Mr. and Mrs. Louis D. King, Raymond, Ray-mond, Alberta, Canada.
