The report is not in dollars and cents but in the commodities com-modities produced which will be used to aid members of the church in vajious parts of the world who are in need. In addition to the amounts listed there was 15 cents per ca pita raised to help pay expenses of canning the welfare assign ment. Stake population, as of October 1947, was 5336, which would mean roughly $800. There were 3077 quarts of milk distributed to wards in the Alpine Al-pine stake. There were $460.00 turned in to buy 23 tons of baled hay. Meat produced included 2046 pounds of dressed pork; 2000 pounds of dressed mutton; 50 pounds of chicken and $60 with which to buy chicken. Vegetables and fruit sent to the welfare center were 100 100 pound bags of potatoes, 1050 pounds of dried beans, 1700 pounds squash, 2000 pounds to matoes, 100 bushels peaches, and 50 bushels of prunes. There were canned 144 cases of table beets, 324 cases of corn 257 cases of peas, 409 cases of tomatoes, 200 cases of apple sauce, 137 cases of apprlcots, and 43 cases of prunes. This makes a total of 72,672 cans. The stake also raised 34 tons of sugar beets which will be turned into sugar Under the direction of the Re lief Society the following articles of clothing were sent to the Wei fare: 64 aprons, 72 bloomers, 35 blouses, 96 pairs corduroy trous ers, 1 pair overalls, 99 dresses, 20 jackets. 20 Melton jackets, 33 nightgowns, 91 pajamas, 72 pan ties, 15 quilts, 16 shirts, 73 slips, 10 slacks, 28 pair trousers, 18 pairs woollen mittens; also 216 dishtowels, 4 complete layettes and 8 rag rugs.
