Signed Mayor and City Council ; o Lillian Gray Wins Pony At Cozy Theatre Miss Lillian Gray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Gray Jr., was the lucky winner of the Shet land Pony, given away at the Cozy Theatre Saturday evening. It is a fine little pony, the pride of every child in town. ; The drawing of tickets for the pony has been going forward for the past several weeks and every child in Lehl has been looking forward for-ward to the night of the drawing with real anticipation In hopes that he might be the lucky winner. The Cozy Theatre was crowded to its capacity Saturday evening, a splendid picture was shown and the drawing then took place. Miss Gray is indeed lucky to win such a wonderful prize. i Carries Away Honors In State Commercial Contest Local Girl Wins Scholarship Vi. to 6. T. U. , Lehl High School carried away numerous high honors In the ninth annual state 'commercial contest Friday at the Brigham Young University, Uni-versity, at Provo with students bringing bring-ing home one scholarship to the B. Y. U., a large p?nnant to the school and numerous gold, - silver and bronze medals. Lehl High school J won first place -in the typewriting (e vents. Weber County, . Richfield and Lehl carried, off the majority of honors In the meet. ' ' Miss- Pansy Hanson, daughter of Mr. and . Mrs. Hagan Hcnson - of this city, was one of the outstanding outstand-ing students of the meet, and the winner' of a scholarship to the Brig-ham Brig-ham Young University, equivalent to seventy dollars.'. She won first place in the seoohd year typewriting, typewrit-ing, contest and third place In the Amateur, contest. She wrote seventy-three' words per minute with only on-ly eight errors in the second year contest and in the Amateur contest she wrote '72.4 words per minute with fourteen errors., Miss Hanson -was just ft shade behind Miss .Fern Christensen . of :ntests,and proved to be a real dinner in both events. Coach Evan Croft's Lehl typists made practically a clean sweep In and Amateur typewriting contest, taking the team prize and the first three individual awards. The team average was seventy-six words per minute. J . Alpine Track & Field Day At Lincoln Tomorrow Miss Beth Anderson won the first place in this event with eighty words per minute with 13 errors, Miss Nola Comer took second place writing seventy-six words with thirteen thir-teen errors and Pansy Hanson third, with 72.4 words per minute with thirteen errors, r In this amateur contest,1' Moroni's team came axond to Lehl With an average of 63 words; Weber third with an average of 63 words; North Sanpete, honorable mention with an average of 61 words per minute. Helon Hanson, seventh grade student stud-ent of Lehl, won third place in the Novice event, writing 49.89 words with 22 errors. First place was won by Albert Morgan Shaw of Weber County and second place by . Toyse Kato, also of Weber. Honor Night will be held next Tuesday and Wed nesday evenings, April 11 and 12, in the Fifth ward chapel, the activ ities commencing at 7:30 p. m. on both evening M. I. A. participants from each ward will take part in the various activities. Retold stories and Dramas will be demonstrated on Tuesday evening eve-ning and Public Speaking, the operettas op-erettas and dancing will be put over Wednesday evening. The M. I. A. contest dacne will be the only activity contested, all others will be demonstrations, Including the uig-inal uig-inal dance, which will be demonstrated. demon-strated.
