They Hear Your Voice! .Your voice is you and when you talk with Mother or Dad miles away in another city, a member of your family away from home or an out- of -town friend, it's like being there In person. ' There's a thrill in hearing their voices too. Telling, them , a bit of good news by telephone-is much more satisfactory satisfac-tory than writing it and calling call-ing them' will probably cost a good deal less .than, you realize. -. ' " . Well all I know is just what I read in the papers, pa-pers, and what I hear by word of mouth. You can" hear an awful lot by word of mouth nowadays. nowa-days. In fact there is almost twice as much distributed by word of mouth as there is by the written word. Never was people chattering chatter-ing bo much. Everybody Ev-erybody has got their heads together, but not to many have their head. But I am telling you my booeet opinion gathered here and there. We got the punetnre fixed and are nea& ed away. Course I dont know when we may have another one, but fts a terrible relief to get this one mend ed and get in the oM car wfti a sigh of satisfaction and get started, and thats what Mr. BooeeveU has done for us. I never was one of those predictors, far I never did know what to predict, but we are off to somewhere. This guy hasent been on there over three or four weeks, bat Be certainly hasent spent that time In front of the newsreels. He told Congress I want some" authority, and for once in their lives th.ey did the right thing they give It to him, and for the minute they glA hhn some authority, why things begin to him. Course the first mjVe away tack when he first entered the office was to close all the banks. He beat the depositors by about 34 hears. They would have closed em anyhow. But here Is the difference, when a depositor closes one it stays closed, but when the President closed one, It has a relapse and opens later. That was the one big thing that he did that really started the whole "Back to Normalcy." That's an old Republican expression. Poor old Republicans, Re-publicans, they waseot a bad bunch of fellows but just dumb. You know a dumb fellow can be the most likable fellow la the world. Yon can just kinder love em and pity em at the same time. Well what do yoa think is a Republicans thoughts now? Here they see a guy come In and do everything In tile world that they ought to have done years ago. but dldent think of it So Its as I say, they meant welL but was Just dumb. They dldent pat the Country on the bum purposely as lots of folk think. They thought they was getting somewhere. A consertatlve is a man who has plenty of money and dont see any reason why he Bhouldent always bate plenty of money. A Democrat is a fellow who never had any, but dont see any reason why he should-ent should-ent have some. So the idea of closing clos-ing a bank of your own free will and accord is as foreign to a Republican Re-publican as selling stock which you dont own is foreign to a Democrat Its not the Democrats conscience that would hurt him. Its Just that he never thought of the thing. The Republican thinks the boat shouldent be rocked. The Democrat says, "Rocked bedambded, why sit here and starve in It? Go ahead and turn it over, maby the bottom side has barnacles on It we can eat" It dldent take Mr. Roosevelt long t see that a major operation was necessary. They every one admitted, "Boys we were wrong."' You see the Republicans as I say have all .the money, and they would much rather be saved by an other Republican, Republi-can, bat they would rather be saved by a Democrat Dem-ocrat than not saved at alL And Roosevelt toiiy has some of ms staanchest admirers ad-mirers In what ased to be bo morously called the Republican Party. You keep Republican getting Interest on bis money and he dont care if its St&llln of Russia that Is doing it So we are just off with a flying start And then the next best thing was that Mr. Roosevelt did was to lose Europe! address for' a week or so. That was always the main trouble with Mr. Hoover. He was the most able, conscientious man, but he Just couldent help bat worry about Europe, Eu-rope, or China, or Madascar, or Liberia Li-beria or somewhere.
