The meet last year, consisted of si events and was won by Merlin Pagan, while Herbert Johnson was second. Those who appear to be the most apt contenders for first place ore Avery Kirkham, Fullmer Allred, Wayne Sunderland and Markland Allred. Avery Kirkham, first place win ner in the high Jump at the Regional meet, will participate In the State meet at Salt Lake City Saturday in the high Jump and 100 yard dash. Avery tied for first place in the 100 yard dash in the district meet, thus qualifying him to enter the state meet In this event also- Avery is the only letter man this year in track and field- Others have either dropped out or failed to win places. Those receiving honor able mention are: Wayne Sunder land, Edward Fox. Billy Burton, Narvel Carter, Cliff Wilkeraon, Carlos and Lynn Hickman. 1 1 BPT AT BOMB High School Girls Attend Play Day At U. of U. Ten girls of the physical education department of the high school ind Miss Romney, the instructor, were invited to participate in the "Girls Play Day" at the University of Utah, Saturday. A group from each Bchool in the state were invited in-vited to participate. The girls were put into different groups with girls from the various schools and competed in yells and songs, posture parade, treasure hunt, relays, baseball, volley ball, round robin contests and swimming. swim-ming. Later they were served luncheon. The- play day was favorable and the girls enjoyed the day Immensely. Im-mensely. Miss Romney is in favor of having a "Play Day" at the high school next year, Instead of a track meet for the girls. She reports re-ports that more girls can participate, partici-pate, there ore more contests and the work of the physical education department can better be carried out. BUI AT WrtMB Declamation Contest Held At High School A declamation contest was held Monday at 2 p. m. in the speech department de-partment at the High School Miss Phyllis Armitstead was chosen as the winner to represent Lehi In the district dramatic reading contest, con-test, to be held Friday in Pleasant Grove- Her reading was "Gold Mounted Guns." Other girls contesting con-testing were May Louise Mitchell. Mary Hardy, Edris Cook and Elfie Hanson All parents and friends of tha Primary Association are invited to meet with the children in a May Day Festival to be given in th3 high school gym., Saturday, May 7th, at 2 p. m. Mterior of the People's Co-op is receiving a new coat of paint this week. It is being painted gray. This will be a great Improvement The interior of the store will also be remodeled within the next few weeks. An artistic arohway has all ready been built from the store leadlnz into the hardware depart- of which will he enlarced in the near future. A complete re-arrangements of the various departments is being planned. When finished the store will present a much more attractive appearance, will be more convenient as well as an added improvement to pur community. m SWT AT MOMS NEW MANAGEMENT TAKES OVER ROYAL AND NATIONAL THEATRES Albert W- Horman of Salt Lake City, has taken over the Royal and National Theatres and announces an-nounces a new policy for operation of same The details will be published pub-lished later. He takes over the theatres on May 5th, (today). Mr-Horman Mr-Horman recently returned from a mission to Great Britian, where he labored with Elder Ferrin Gurney of this city. He states that he wiij make his home in Lehi, locating in the Second Ward and intends to co-operate with the church in every way possible. Mr. J. C. Miller was formerly manager of these theatres. We wish the new manager success. BUT AT HOMB The entertainment held in the Second Ward chapel Tuesday after noon, sponsored by the Relief Society of Lehi Stake, was declared a great success- A large group was in attendance and enjoyed an ex cellent program. BUT AT HOMB Lehi and Lincoln Debaters Decide . Division Winners Thursday Lehi and Lincoln met at the Lincoln High School to decide de-cide the winners of this district to enter the state meet Both the Affirmative and Negative teams from both schools debated and the two affirmative teams won, however how-ever it was necessary that the first place be awarded to one school- In- Eieaa or tne winning teams the winning school must enter the meet. Dr. William J. Snow, of the B. T. U the Judge awarded Lin coln the privilege of going to the state meet, largely by virtue of their superior analysis of the qn tion. Mr. Washburn in charge of the Lehi debaters, states that the work of these students Thursday was the beat done this year and the Judge complimented them very highly. The quilt is made of sateen in two shades of pink, white and pale green and has printed on it, in permanent v ink, the names of practically every business concern in Lehi, leading business men, the Lehi City Council, the Lehi Stake Presidency, Bishops, M. I. A- presi dents and other church officials, builders, merchants, contractors, telephone operators, clerks, doctors, loyal supporters, etc Look for your name on the quilt. xn aDout iirty years or more from now that, auilt will be real history and will no doubt become quite valuable. On the evening of May 28th it will be given away at the Royal Theatre to the holder of the lucky ticket. The show that evening will be presented by "The Clever Kids" from Salt Lake City and two Japanese students from the B. Y. U. at Provo, in addition other added features will be given. The Vanguards had the quilt made in an effort to obtain funds to carry out a yearly project. The entire group of boys will enjoy an educational trip to Yellowstone National Park, chaperoned by their leaders. Tonight in the Third Ward chapel the boys are sponsoring an entertainment enter-tainment A splendid program has been outlined. No admission will be chagred. Contributions will be accepted. BUT AT BOMB - First Ward Presents , Road Show In Provo Last Wednesday evening the First Ward presented their road show in Provo- They played before be-fore the Provo Second, Third, Sixth and the Pioneer Wards, every house being filled to capacity. Between Be-tween eleven and twelve hundred people witnessed the performance. After the show the group were taken to the home of Mr. Miller, Sunday School Superintendent of the Pioneer Ward, and served a delicious supper. Nineteen First Ward members were in attendance, including the cast. J. Nile Washburn, Wash-burn, Harold Fox, Dorothy South-wick, South-wick, Lewis Smith. John Sojth-wick, Sojth-wick, Earl Banks, Helen Willes, Leola Ooates, Margaret Davis, Fawn Lewis, Evans Anderson, Raymond Stewart, Bernard Bradshaw, Abo-1 rauiips, Beth Anderson Freda Phillips, accompanists. The road show was written by J. Nile Washburn and diwscted by Margaret M- Thurman.
