Sad and impressive funeral service held afternoon st i n. m. in Ward chapel for Lawrence William Manning, the nine-year-old on of Mr. and Mrs. Lafayette Manning of Salt Lake City, who burned to death last Tuesday In Salt Lake. Bishop William Hadfleld presided. Aa the opening musical number Mra. Cockerel of Magna sang, "Sometime. Somewhere." Mrs. Fern Johnson accompanied her on the piano. Earl Dowding offered the opening prayer. A vocal solo, "Oh Dry Those Tears" by Mrs. Nydla Price, then followed. Bishop Hadfield read a short biographical sketch and made remarks. re-marks. Mrs. Edith Evans sang, "Lay My Head Beneath A Rose," accompanied by Miss Clarice Allred, after which Bishop Henry . Lewis gave remarks. Each of the speakers speak-ers conveyed many beautiful thoughts and spoke words of con-solement con-solement to the family in bereavement. bereave-ment. Mrs.. Cockerel sang, "Face To Face" and as the closing musical number Bishop Hadfleld sang, "When the Angels Have Lifted the Veil." The benediction was pronounced pro-nounced by Leo W. Ooates of Salt Lake City. Interment was made In the City cemetery, where Bishop Hadfleld dedicated the grave. Lawrence William Manning was born May 18. 1922, in Salt Lake City, the son of Fred Lafayette and Annie Slater Manning. He is survived by his parents, three brothers, Eugene 15, LeRoy, 14, Dan, 12, a sister, Katherlne, 6, a grandfather, Mr. Harry Manning, Sr., and a grandmother, Mrs. Sarah Grace, both of this city. , Robert Sollls, 11, the little boy who was seriously burned at the time of the little Manning boy's death, died Wednesday afternoon. He states that they were the first missionaries ever to labor in Prince George. He spent ten months in Alaska and one month In Portland, Oregon. Elder Brems reports that the mis sion there is progressing rapidly, the converts are coming in fast and the distribution of Mormon liter ature Is extensive. He states that It is one of the finest missions In the world. He was released In the Cardston, Alberta, temple on July 24th and left Portland, Oregon, Sunday after noon, arriving home Tuesday. Ferrel Is looking well and reports that all though his mission was the most wonderful experience In his life and that he enjoyed it im mensely, he Is glad to be back home among his many friends and relatives. At the conclusion of the convention conven-tion the party visited Niagara Falls, Albony, New York, New Tork City. Philadelphia, Washington, D. C,' Indianapolis, St Louis, Kansas City Omaha and Chicago were visited prior to reaching Toronto, and Denver. Seventeen states, a portion por-tion of Canada and Washington, D. C, were traversed In the 6,000 mile automobile trip. Lehi Band To Give Concert At Saratoga Sunday The Lehi Band, under the dl rectlon of Mr. Abraham Anderson will present a concert at Saratoga resort Sunday afternoon at 5 p. tn. They have prepared some splendid selections and the concert Is expected ex-pected to be one of the best they have given this year. This Is saying a lot, as everyone who has listened to previous concerts, knows. The boys have accomplished some very fine work this year In the musical line and thanks to Mr. Anderson An-derson Lehl now has a band to be proud of.
