Other sugar company officials will contribute. ' The closing event of the day is a grand ball to be given at Saratoga. The program on August 13 will open with a. ball game at 11 a. m. at the City Park between our local team and Salem. . A second 'performance of the rodeo occurs at 2 p. m. August 13. Awards and prizes are so arranged and given that the interest in the contests does not lessen, and each succeeding day has Its own features of special interest At this per formance, as well as on the other days will appear the Lehi Rodeo Band which recently took second place at the Covered Wagon Day Parade in Salt Lake City. The boys have been giving a series of free concerts throughout the county advertising ad-vertising the celebration. The evening' entertainment at the high school auditorium is officially the homecoming program. Governor George H.'Dern will be the speaker of the evening, and the rest of the program speeches, musical numbers, num-bers, etc., will be furnished by former residents of Lehi. For this reason it will be Impossible to furnish fur-nish a complete program at this time. '.' "'"''' Friday, August 14, 11 a, m. a ball game will be played between Orem and Lehi. v - r At 2 p. 'tn. the third performance perform-ance of the rodeo at Evans Ranch. The Homecoming Ball, to which will bo admitted free, all former residents of Lehi,, will Occur at 9 p. m. at Saratoga. This is the closing clos-ing event of the three day program and it is hoped that both local people peo-ple and visiting friends will avail themselves of thej opportunity to get together in a real old home town celebration. The first evening August 12, will be the official Sugar Day Program, commencing at 8 p. m. with Senator Reed Smoot as the principal speaker. speak-er. The remainder of the time will be turned over to the sugar officials, who will give talks relating to the sugar industry. Thursday evening, August IS, will be a homecoming program In honor of all former residents of Lehi. Governor George H. Dern will be the main speaker. Other number! on the program will be furnished by out-of-town people, who were former Lehi residents. COLBORN'S HORSES CONTRACTED FOR RODEO The rodeo committee have been working with Everett Colborn, of Blackfoot, Idaho, rodeo contractor and promoter and they are securing horses and steers from him. . He recently promoted shows at Black foot, American Falls, Rupert, Idaho Cokeville. Jackson and Soda Springs, Wyoming. He will furnish fur-nish sixty head of bucking horses and sixteen imported Mexican steers for Lehl's rodeo. Some of the main features of the rodeo will be trick riding and rop ing,. hoys calf riding, exltion, bull riding exhibition, cowboy broncho riding contest, Mexican steer bull- dogging contest, cowboys wild horse race, calf roping contest. An additional attraction will be a cowgirl broncho riding and also a steer ridinsr contest The committee have contracted with Homer Hokum, as clown dur !mi thA rodeo. Last January he won the Hoot Gibson medal for be ing the world's best all around cow boy clown. The rodeo grounds and arena have been ' repaired and additional seating provided. They can now seat 8,000 people. The committee is "making arrangements to handle th rrnwd most effectively. T-ehi Rodeo Band Enters Payson Parade The Lehi Band, in their rodeo uniforms, appearing as Lehi's Rodeo Band marched in the Payson Black Hawk and Onion Day parade Wed nesday. Six boys dressed in over alls and jackets made of sugar sacks carried a banner on each side nt th hand and Claude Curtis, mounted on a fine horse, equipped as a cowboy ana eurisms led the band. A float decorated with signs, rodeo svmbols. sugar sacks, etc., ad vertising the Lehi celebration was in thA narade. Mrs. Butler and two sons of California did roping rop-ing acts in the parade. AUW w --'- ... rrf Queen Contest Nears End Rivalry Betwssn Contestants Becoming Keen With five of Lehi's fairest young women still in the race for Sugar Day Rodeo queen the contest Is rapidly drawing to a close. Tomorrow To-morrow night, (Friday) the contest will end at the queen's contest dance at Saratoga. The resort has been staging some big dances and a re cord crowd is expected to be there tomorrow night to select the queen, Voting will continue during the dance until 11:30, at which time the voting will cease. The results of the contest will be announced at the dance. " Excitement is at a high pitch as to which girl will be the victor and now that the end is drawing near interest among the town people is becoming keener than ever. As is the usual case large amounts of votes are held in reserve, hense the final result can in no wise be pre dieted at this time. To all those who have votes to cast, the committee in charge are asking that they keep in mind that this queen will not only reign alone here on Sugar Day, but she will likewise represent our city among the other queens who will be taken to Los Angeles, and San Francisco during the summer and will be banqueted ban-queted and feted by civic organi zations in that city. It was decided that the club would forego the luncheon part of their Thursday's program and use the money saved toward paying for the" float for the Sugar Day Parade.
