SUN, LEIII, UTAH Thursday, October 6 School flews HIGH SCHOOL Mr. Abraham Anderson announces that there are seventy-two students beginning instrumental work In his department. Their time Is spent now In organizing the bands and orches- tras,s !!U; The Doys' Glee Club was organized last week. Already they have been asked to give selections at the Teachers' Iustltute to be held at Salt Lake October 22. The Girls' Clee Club is to foe organized next week. The Dramatic Club was organized Monday, October 3. The officers elected were as follows: Heed Chrlstofferson, president; with Izola Stewart and Luclle Bateman as as-, as-, slstanta. Those on the public service ser-vice committee are Molly Curtis and Clifton Anderson. Miss Broadbent announces that the committee .will gladly furnish musical selections or readings for any of the wards if they will call the Lehi High School office and ask for either of the two on the Tublio Service Committee. Mr. Banks is assisting in organizing organ-izing a camera club in the Lehi High School. A meeting will be held Monday to eloct the officers of the club. Freshle day will be held Friday, October 7. The Sophomores are to arrange the program for assembly that day. The A. B. C.'she7d their initiation party, Friday, September 30, at Miss Luclle Bateman's. The English department of the Lehi Hlgn School has been enriched by a new filing case. During the fu ture the work of the students will ' be on file. Misses Bosh and Watson were Salt Lake visitors Saturday, October 1, on business and pleasure. While there they attended the Salt Lake Theatre. Miss Leda Thompson of Pleasant Grove, wasa visitor of Miss Bosh and Miss Watson Thursday of last week. Miss Topham was a Salt Lake visitor Saturday night to attend thhe opera "My Maryland." The teachers of the Lehi grade schools entertained the high school touchers Tuesday night at a delight-ful delight-ful party at the lake. Games and refreshments re-freshments were enjoyed by all. Junior High School news will appear each Week in the Lehi Sun. The Junior High School enrollment Is 192 pupils. The ratio for each teacher Is 32 pupils. The election for class officers took place at 3:00 o'clock. The election was as follows: ' Rex Dennis. President; Beth Fox, Vice-President; Eleora Lewis, Secretary; Secre-tary; Roberta Ball, Treasurer; Reporter and Ila Schow, Assistant Reporter. Re-porter. ... .. , The grades from the Fifth up were free to attend the County Fair Wednesday, Wed-nesday, September 28. The Alpine School District gave a program. The Junior High' put on an Old Fashion Garden. The Primary grade put on two dances. Neldon Hansen. Dr. Worlton of Lehi, President of Board of Education, Superintendent David Gourley and Supervisor Leo Hansea visited school several times, showing their interest in our success. We are always glad to have them visit us in our school work.- Ila Schow. Miss Harrison, former teacher of Lehi, was here visiting Monday. 'Miss Harrison spent a very pleasant day with the teachers and her former pupils of last year. Miss Harrison is now teaching in Lark, Utah. Mrs. Davis Bolcy, formerly Miss Margery Peterson, a teacher of last year, was here visiting the teachers of the Lehi Junior High School. Mrs. Boley now has hor home in American Fork. o Principal D. We are all going to have a real good time. The plans about the party will foe more definitely announced later. . Cleora Lewis. TEACHERS PAltTY A SUCCESS The teachers of the Primary and Junior High building entertained the high school teachers and the married men's wives, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hansen Han-sen of Lehi, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Walton of American Fork, and Mrs. pupils from beginners will have a ton's farm. Games were played and a delicious luncheon was served by the light of a large bonfire. Eva Stewart. 0 ' FOURTH GRADE OUR FAIR We worked very hard for our fair. We brought our saws and hammers. We made tables and chairs. The boys made furniture while the girls sewed. We made some very pretty things. We had the Fair on Friday. It started at two o'clock. We made posters. Our parents and the little folks were invited. At 2:15 we had our program for the Grammar Grades. In our program we had some dancers songs and poems. We sold popcorn and candy. After the program we let the boys and girls buy our things. At 3:15 we had another program for the Primary grades. As they came In they dropped a pnny in the box. The room was full of people. About three hundred people came. We had a penny grab box. We hhad little dolls, pin cuslons, wagons, doll beds, aeroplanes and flowers for sale. We had one very pretty little cedar chest. Localltems Chester Calton had bis tonsils removed re-moved Friday at the local hospital. o Mr. and Mrs. Chester Smith and Mrs. Harriet J. Smith were visitors Tuesday in Salt Lake. Mr, James Gough, of Lark, Utah, was visiting here Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. James G. Gough. Mrs. E. A. Paxman, of Provo, was visiting here over the week-end with her sister, Mrs. George H. Smith. Mrs. Fred Merrill, of San Francisco, California, arrived here last week for a month's -visit with relatives .and friends. Tuesday afternoon the Third ward Relief Society held a social ia the ward meeting house which marked the opening of the season's work for that organization. A special program and dainty refreshments were enjoyed enjoy-ed by a large number of Relief Society ladies. The Third 'ward Bee Hive Girls under the direction of their Bee Keepers Mrs. Eunice Hutchlngs ami Miss Marvel Taylor put over a novel entertainment in the Third ward chapel Thursday night. Two one act plays and a spicy mixed program was given. Announcement have foeen received by Lehi friends of the marriage - of Mr. Darrell F. Peterson of Salt Lake, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Peterson, former Lehi residents, to Miss Geneva Woodard. The marriage will take place today (Thursday) in Salt Lake. n Mrs. D. Ray Kleinman of Arizona, formerly Miss Leath Whipple of this city, has been called to he the chorister of the 'Mesa Temple to be dedicated October 23rd. Mrs. Klein-man Klein-man is helping with some of the quartets and solo work for the dedi cation.
