IMiss Alice Phillips and Miss Fern Fagan, who are teaching school in Alpine, spent the week here at their homes. . Mr. N. O. Malan returned to Lehi Tuesday after a pleasant two days visit spent with his wife and children child-ren in Ogden. The Misses Susie and Ruth Bennion, Miss Laureen Southwick and Miss Leona Fjeld were guests of Mrs. Owen Lynch in American Fork Sunday afternoon. after-noon. Mr. John Brown, Jr., left the latter part of last week for Magrath, Canada, to look after his interests there. ; He expects to be gone until about the first of next month. Motoring to Salt Lake Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. , J. C. Banks and family accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. Eliza Banks of Pleasant Grove, spent the day with Mr. Banks' sister, Mrs. T. M. Samuel son. . Among.the Lehi visitors' last weekend week-end were Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Taylor and daughter, Glenda, of Salt Lake City, They were guests ' of Mjrsl Taylor's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E Dorton. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Russell, Miss Virginia Russell, and Miss Thersa Allan of Salt Lake City motored to Lehi Sunday, spending the day with Mrs. Russell's parents, Mr. and Mrs Isaac Fox. Following the removal of the A. F. Gaisford, Jr., family to American Fork on Saturday last Mr. and Mrs. Claude Curtis took possession of the Gaisford home on the corner of Sixth North and Second East"" streets. Celebrating her daugher, Beulah's birthday anniversay, Mrs. J. J. Whit-comb Whit-comb entertained at her home Friday evening. The usual diversions of games and music followed by a delicious delici-ous luncheon provided a pleasant evening for twelve guests. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shelton entertained enter-tained Friday evening at their home near the pumping station. Saint Patrick's decorations were carried out in beautifying the rooms. The evening was spent in dancing and playing games and at midnight lncheon was served to fifty guests. ,. Mr. and. Mrs. Samuel Brown of Provo, motored to Lehi Sunday and spent part of the day wit Mrs. Margaret Helquist and family. In the afternoon they motored on to Salt Lake accompanied by Miss Verlillian Helquist and f pent the remainder of the day with Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Vance. Mr. and Mrs. John F. Bradshaw arrived ar-rived home from California Wednesday Wednes-day evening to attend the funeral of Mrs. Briggs'. Saturday evening they left for Canada where they expect to remain until about the 18th of Hiiis month, at which time they will return to make their home in Lehi. A move toward the beautification of the city was taken Monday morning when the fence in front of the Lehi hospital premises was torn down. The move was added upon Tuesday by the removal of the fence ' enclosing the J. R. Cutler residence. The fences seemed to detract from the beauty of the lawns and surroundings, which are now brought more into evidence. Mrs. Junius Banks entertained at dinner Friday complimentary to Mrs. Jennie Lane and daughter, . Miss Vennie Lane, of . Forsyth, Montana, who were visiting Lehi relatives on that day. Miss Lizzie Shaw was the howsd guest at most successful surprise party given at her homo Thursday evening by the Fourth Ward Gleaner girls. Hackett and Mr. LaVelle Smuin. vpy. ;, o . ,; High School Opera "The Glass Slipper" To Be Presented Saturday After about two months of untiring rehearsals the cast and chorus of eighty people of the Lehi High School will present to the public, Friday afternoon and Saturday evening, even-ing, "The Glass Slipper," a delightful musical comedy in three acts. The cast and the chorus are composed entirely en-tirely of high school talent and under the capable direction of Professor Anderson, Mr, Leo Hanson and Miss Margaret Thurm an will be heard at their best in these performances. Mr. Anderson states that he has never before had the previlege of directing so capable a chorus and that every member has manifested a keen Interest in the affair from the initial rehearsal. Armond Webb, who played the title rol In the high school play, "The Arrival Ar-rival of Kitty," with, bo much versltal-ityis versltal-ityis cast as the lover. Prince Leo, in the ofera. Other principals include Miss Emma Asher, Miss Gertrude Fox, Miss Mildred Whipple, Miss Arlene Goodwin and Messrs. Ralph Webb, Fred Osterloh, Ralph Roberts and Howard Peterson. One of the very pleasant features of the affair is the dancing which has been directed by Miss Arvilla Watson. Wat-son. Group, solo and duet dances are "being featured. Special costumes have been designed by Miss Carol Hanson and together with the new scenery will lend the necpssary atmosphere. atmos-phere. No effort has been spared by directors or participants to make this a worth while musical treat. First Ward The Genealogical Committee of the First Ward will have charge of the program for the sacrament services Sunday evening. They have secured the aervlcea of Joseph IT. Smith of Salt Lake City, to be the speaker. Mr. Smith is one of the recorders in the temple and will confina his sub- ect to some phaze of genealogical work. One more forward step has Just been taken by the Larsen Brothers concern in their endeavor to better Berve their large number of customers. An order was placed this week for a $3,000 to $4,000 motor driven refrigerating refriger-ating plant. It is expected that t(he new equipment will be in operatifcm' about April 15th. i, The plant will cool the refrigerator and all counters, eliminating the use of ice entirely. It is to be located to the east of the present store where a new refrigator is to be erected. Pipes will connect all of the meat show cases with the plant affording ample cooling for even the meats on display. With the moving of the refrigerator from the main store room additional room will be provided allowing for more display space and larger space for the public. .
