They report that when finished the well will be between two and three hundred feet deep. A Peerless Pump has been ordered through the Mine and Smelter Sup ply company of Salt Lake City and Tuesday morning Virgil H. Peterson, president of the company reported that it would be here in four days, thus it will arrive about Friday or Saturday and is expected to be run ning by Monday. The pump has a forty-two horse power motor and will pump fifteen hundred gallons per minute. The well will be a great help to the stockholders of the company in maturing the late crops and- the people are anxiously waiting for the new well water. Just as soon as the Lehi Irrigation Irriga-tion company well is completed the contractors who have been driving it, Ferris and Gardner, of San Jose, California, will immediately start work on the well to be driven near Alpine by the North Bench Irrigation Irriga-tion company. The contract for this well has been signed and everything every-thing is in readiness for the commencing com-mencing of the driving of the well, which is expected to be a great boon to stockholders of this company. The annual family gathering of the Pox family, descendants of Isaac Wilson Pox, held Saturday afternoon af-ternoon in Wines Park, was largely attended and proclaimed a big success suc-cess by the many family members. About one hundred and fifty mem bers of the Fox family were in attendance at-tendance and enjoyed the afternoon activities. Robert S. Fox, president of the family organization was in charge. The following program was carried car-ried out: Opening song, "Our Mountain Home So Dear" Group. Prayer Isaac Clark of Bachus. Benediction Bishop I. W. Fox. An Important feature of the affair af-fair was a huge birthday cake, which was cut and served to the group. The top part of the cake was given to Mrs. Thomas Clark, one hundred per cent of her family i being in attendance. Mrs. Martha Ann Pox Taylor, who will be ninety-years ninety-years old on July 11, was the oldest member of the family in attendance. The same officers who served during dur-ing the past year were re-elected to serve during the coming year. These officers are Robert S. Fox, president; presi-dent; Jesse Fox, vice president; Al-ta Al-ta Fox Schown, secretary and treasurer; treas-urer; Mrs. Nellie Hales and John A. Fox, temple work committee. Visiting and chatting was enjoyed during the afternoon and luncheon was "served. During the luncheon period music was furnished by members mem-bers of the Clark family. The reunion' was proclaimed a grand success. Among those from outof -town coming to attend the Fox family reunion Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. Fox and family, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. At daybreak salutes were fire telling the people of the holiday and reminding them of the day's cele bration. At 5 o'clock a. m. the Lehi band, under the leadership of Abraham Anderson, serenaded the town. The band members were later served breakfast at the Julius Jensen Cafe. In the evening many local people attended the holiday dances at Saratoga Sar-atoga and Geneva and many attended attend-ed the local theatres. Fifth and First Wards Report Dell Trips The Fifth and First wards of Lehi occupied Mutual Dell last week, each ward reporting fine out- togs. The Fifth ward group, numbering seventy members, occupied the Dell Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. They enjoyed numerous, hikes and out-of-door sports and gatnea. Seven boys made the hike to Mount Tim panogos. A program was given at the Dell Monday evening and Tuesday Tues-day evening was the big program and entertainment. Over ono hun dred and twenty-five people were in attendance. The program given this night in cluded a tap dance by a group of girls, under the direction of Miss Ethel Hall, a vocal solo by Mrs. Rula Dorton, reading by Miss Lu-cile Lu-cile Bateman, stunt by Misses Arva Wing, Marie Erlckson and Vera Anderson; An-derson; stunt, "Voice of Experience" by John Frank, and a "Fan" dance by John Frank. Ander son, won second place In the Ama teur typewriting contest at the Workfa Fair in Chicago, Illinois, last week. Typists from all parts of the world competed In the con test. Reports from Miss Anderson's teacher stated she would have at tained even higher laurels. In the contest, but something went wrong with the space bar on her machine and time was lost In fixing it however we feel that it is a great honor coming to one of our local girls to win second place and we Join with her many friends In congratulating con-gratulating her. Miss Anderson arrived home this week from the Fair and reports a fine trip. " She represented the HenegarV Business college of which she Is a student, In the contest. She won the right to represent her school, being the highest student after a number of hard competitive tests. She made the trip to the Fair with her teacher and a representative of the Underwood Typewriter corn- group. Provo Legion Drum Corp Visits Lehi The American Legjon Drum Corps No. 13 of Provo serenaded In Lehi Mondav evening. They marched and gave a number of selections on Lehi Main street and also gave a demonstration at the dance in the DansArt. Many people viewed the demonstration demon-stration by the corp and were entertained en-tertained by them. The members of the Drum corp with a loud speaker speak-er were advertising the celebration at Provo on the Fourth of July. The new Plymouth that was given away in the B. Y. U. Stadium Wednesday Wed-nesday evening was demonstrated here Monday night with the group. o- Republicans Elect Delegates to Conventions A Republican Primary was held Friday evening In the Memorial building for the purpose of electing delegates to attend the State Repub lican convention, delegates to attend at-tend the Second Congressional con vention and to elect a local precinct committee and to select members of the Utah County Central committee. There was a large crowd present at the primary, the largest crowd ever to attend a Primary In Ltld for selecting of delegates. The local Republican committee was selected as follows: - Abel G. Gudmundsen Chairman. Thomas Powers Secretary. Mrs. A. E. Adams Chairwoman. The local representatives chosen as members of the Utah County Central Committee were Thomas Powers and Mrs. Leroy Davis. Lehi was allotted six delegates to the State convention and six delegates dele-gates to the Second Congressional convention with one vote each. Twelve delegates, however, were chosen to attend each of these con ventions, instead of six with one- half vote each. Delegates to the State Convention, which will be held July 18, at the Victory Theatre In Salt Lake City were elected as follows: Thomas Webb, Bazil Dorton, Darrel Fowler, Clifford Austin, B C. Lott, Hyrum Timothy, Mrs. A. E. Adams, Abel O. Gudmundsen, Mrs. Leroy Davis, Alex D. Christofferson, Leroy Davis and E. B. Jones. Delegates to the Second Con gressional convention, which will be held July 18, at the Victory Theatre, Immediately following! the State convention were elected as follows: James II. Gardner, J. W. July 6, in the Memorial building, between the hours of 1 and 3 o'clock m. Mothers are urged to bring their children for an examination. FERA Cattle Buying Starts The government cattle purchasing purchas-ing program started In Utah county 1 Saturday with the shipment of two carloads of cattie from Goshen to the Cudahy packing plant In North Salt Lake for slaughtering, W. Lester Les-ter Mangura, county FERA manager mana-ger reported. Two more carloads were scheduled for shipment Sunday to the Ogden stockyards, one carload to be loaded at Sprlngville and the other at Lehi Circulars were sent out to 4,000 farmers and livestock men of the county Saturday by county agent Lyman H. Rich, director of the program pro-gram here, giving detailed Information Informa-tion on the program. Mr. Rich cautioned farmers to consider the program of culling process pro-cess amid keep their best animals to build future herds. He also urged them to adjust their cattle to be kept through the winter to the feed supply available. Conditions in the county show some districts fairly well supplied with feed while others win have only 10 to 20 per cent of normal he said. There are no prospects for large amounts of hay to be shipped. In but probably some concentrates will be available for purchase, he declared. 'ii.. o M. I. A.
