Mr. Leo Hanson and daughter, June, spent Saturday visiting In Salt Lake City. Mrs. B. G. Webb was visiting in Bait Lake City Monday and Tuesday Tues-day with her daughter, Mrs. James It, Atkinson. She also spent the two days doing temple work. Mr. and Mrs. J. Hector Brown left Sunday for their home In Grand Junction, Colorado, after vis iting in Lehi with Mr. Brown's mother, Mrs. Julia Brown, and other relatives, for several days. Mr. and Mrs. Randal Schow were visiting in Salt Lake City on Tuesday, Tues-day, attending the Poultry convention conven-tion at the Newhouse Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Goates , and son, Paul, of Salt Lake' City and Mr. and Mrs. Donald -Goates of West Jordan were In Lehl spending the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Goates. Gay In every detail was the social held Wednesday evening In the Third ward chapel, under the direction di-rection of the ward community activity ac-tivity committee. The ladles each brought a pie and the 'gentlemen purchased the pies, having as their partner for the evening the owner of the pie. Social activities were engaged en-gaged in and a pleasant evening of fun was reported. Mrs. Bert Gray entertained at dinner last Friday at her home for members of her family, the occasion being her birthday anniversary. Covers were laid for twenty-seven. In the evening the group came back and slyly surprised Mrs. Gray. A delightful social evening was en-oyed, en-oyed, followed by dainty refreshments. refresh-ments. In attendance were Mr. and Mrs. E. Fowler who investigated it during the day. Because of the close investigation in-vestigation the persons who took the grain became fearful and returned re-turned the grain back to Mr. Barnes ' Monday evening. . o , . This was the first time in twenty-five years that all I of the members of the family have been together and it was a real happy hap-py meeting. A delicious dinner was served and social activities engaged in at the Brown home, Saturday evening. In attendance were John Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Brown of Pay-son; Pay-son; Mr. and Mrs. J. Lott, Will Observe 60th Wedding Anniversary Patriarch and Mrs. Abel John Evans, one of Lehi's prominent respected re-spected and beloved couples, will celebrate cel-ebrate the sixtieth anniversary of their wedding day Friday, January 26, A reception will be held" in their honor Friday evening in the Second ward Amusement Hall. The couple were married in the Salt Lake Endowment House January Jan-uary 26, 1874, by Daniel H. Wells, and have lived together in happy wedded bliss for the past sixty years in our community. Abel John Evans was born December De-cember 20, 1852, ;at Lehi, the son of Abel Evans . and Mary Jones Evans. When Abel John was twelve years of age, his father went on a mission to Great Britian and in November No-vember 1867, died there, thus becoming be-coming a martyr for the cause of his Master, and leaving Abel John the eldest of nine children to take the load In all the hardships which the people of that time were forced to undergo. . He was ordained an Elder January Jan-uary 26, 1874, and was married that day to Louisa Emmeline Zimmerman. Zimmer-man. He served as a member 'of the County Court for four years, 1892-1896, 1892-1896, at which time he was elected a member of the Utah Constitutional Convention and took a prominent part in framing the state constitution. He served as a senator in the first, second, third and fourth stats Legislature and was chosen President Presi-dent of the Senate by a unanimous vote of his party. On May 13, 1901, he was the happy hap-py recipient of a certificate from the Supreme Court of the State of Utah, which entitled him to practice law in all courts of the State, and for many years Mr. Evans has practiced law. He has served as City Attorney of Lehi City for several years past, and has taken a very active part in church and civic affairs' in the community. At the present time he Is Patriarch of the Lehi Stake of Zlon. . Louisa Emmeline Zimmerman Evans, was born October 11, 1855, the daughter of John Zimmerman and Harriet Laura Lamb Zimmerman. Zimmer-man. She has spent practically all of her life in this community. She has proved to be a wonderful wife and helpmate and a loving mother to her family. She has worked in the Relief Society for sixtyJthree years and is still working in this organization at the present time. For a number of years she served as President of this organization. She took care of a family of six children and did the work in the fields, while her husband filled his first mission to Wales. Brother and sister Evans are the parents of eleven children, three boys and eight girls and have raised four children beside their own. They have had twenty-one grand children and seven great grandchild ren Together they have worked and sent eight of their family on L. D. S. missions, some of them fulfil ling more than one mission. Their living children are as follows: fol-lows: Mrs. Harriet M. Webb, Will iam E. Evans of Salt Lake City Robert J. Evans of Logan; Mrs. Ethel Peterson of Hollywood, Cali fornia; Mrs. Hazel Young of San Francisco, California, and Mrs. Win' nifred Sorenson.
