Show Richards announces candidacy for Republican leadership Susan Richards, former President MOTHER'S roteirX become administrative assistant to former County Commissioner Robert Warnick. She also served as the public information officer for of Utah County Republican Women, has announced her candidacy for vice chairman of the Utah County Republican Party. The election will take place at the county-wid- e convention May 9. Susan has been active in the Republican party for many years, having served as a voting district chairman, vice chairman, and administrative area vice chairman, and held several offices in Republican Women including two years as president. She has been involved in many political campaigns and believes she has had a wide range of experience with the political process. Professionally, she worked as director of constituent services for Howard Nielson. Congressman While in this capacity she represented the Congressman in Utah County working with mayors, the city Susan Richards and councils organizations. Susan left Nielson's civic office to Utah State House of Representatives. She is presently working at Novell in marketing of the Netware Services Division. Richards feels the Republican party has enjoyed success in the county in the past several years, but, "with the tough decisions that faced the legislature this session the party will need to become more cohesive." She said this can be accomplished by spending more time identifying and training good candidates and helping them financially. "I would like to help cement the party," she added. Susan was educated at BYU and she resides in American Fork with her husband, Guy E. Richards and four children. That total figure represents an 8.7 percent decrease over last year's grants funding, due to a budget cut during the last legislative session. Fiscal year 1986-8grants funding totaled $977,805, awared to 135 nonprofit groups that sponsor arts events. "Deciding where to allocate fewer grant dollars to groups already feeling the pinch of the state's economic slump was very painful for the Council." said Executive Director Carol Nixon. I A.
