Show Rcccrd Crowds Attend Conference t Sessions in Lchi Last Week End "Whenever we choose a road we choose the en! to which it leads," said Elder Richard L. Evans as he delivered the keynote address at the General Session of the Lehi Stale Conference. Elder Evans, an Apostle in the LDS Church, frequently singled out his "beloved young friends," as he emphasized the importance of wise decisions and the wise use of time. "Life moves so swiftly there isn't time for any wrong decisions," he said. "We are always faced with our own record," be cautioned, adding that "always and forever we are in our own company - we never get away from ourselves." "We have far passed the time when muscles - mere physical strength - is enough," he stated as he stressed the need for education. "It is a wonderful thing to be faithful," he concluded, "but it is a much better thing to be both faithful and competent." Speaking of world conditions today, Elder Evans stated that "much of the evil in the world is here because we help to make it profitable," he said, "we are helping it." Good men are not comfortable in the presence of evil," he observed, "but more interesting to me is that evil men don't feel comfortable in the presence of good." "Commit yourselves to going all the way with our Father in Heaven," Elder Evans urged. "The moral and spiritual laws are as much in force and effect as the physical laws are," he concluded. Phil Jensen, Regional Representative of the Council of the Twelve, compared personal influence to that of a r adiotrans-mitte- r. "Each one of us in and of ourselves is a transmitter," he said, "and we transmit a spirit or influence.. .there isn't one of us that doesn't send out an influence for good, for evil, or for complacency. Let's trans mit good!" he urged. He also stressed the importance of observing the Sabbath and warned of the trend toward "business as usual" on Sunday. President Dean T. Worlton said that "It is a real challenge Art Exhibit at High School Set Next Week me pirouc is invuea 10 view an art exhibit at the Lehi High School throughout the coming two weeks, it was reported by Dean Welch, Art Instructor at the school and event chairman. He added that "to be effective in the gospel-teacheparents or whatever-i- f we really make progress with one another, it will be because we work together with one another as Individuals. Every individual is deservant of our fullest attention," he concluded. He also expressed serious concern at the number of young people in the Stake being married outside the Temple. He stressed the importance of proper attitudes and training at home. President S. Rex Zimmerman spoke of the conference theme "Lost Sheep," which had been discussed extensively in the Saturday evening Leadership Meeting. "Sometimes we find the lost sheep," he said, "but after we find him we don't know what to do with him." He then stressed that "Fellowshipping is the key to missionary work and to the Aaronic Priesthoo d- - Adult program." "There is a lot more to fellowshipping than inviting people to come to meeting and making them feel at home," he said, as he emphasized the importance of the personal conrs, tact and genuine interest. President F.Russell Hakes led a discussion In theSaturday even ing Leadership session to deter mine practical ways of "bringing the lost sheep back into the fold." Comparative activity charts were reviewed to help the leaders recognize "weak spots" and determine methods to stimulate activity. A special film was shown depicting a young person's experience with drugs and addicts. Other speakers during the conference were Donalee Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Jones of the Eighth Ward, Mrs. Darwin (Bonnie) Miner, president of the Fourth Ward Relief Society, and Rex Price, Sunday School Superintendent in the Seventh Ward.
