Mrs. Taylor, the daughter of Martha Geneva Clark and Will iam S. Evans was born in Lehi, Utah on March 29. 1887. She was married on June 17, 1908 to Charles H. Goates also of Lehi. They became the proud parents of five children. In Oc tober of 1918 her husband and the three oldest children died of the Spanish Influenza. Two of the children are still living from which Mrs. Taylor has seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Mrs. Taylor remarried in Aug ust 1937 to John E. Taylor of Provo. From this union she has Jones Thomas Jones, Wednesday, March 19, at 1:00 p.m., in the Mr. Wing Mortuary Chapel. Jones, 47, died March 16, of a heart ailment. He was a well known farmer and stock raiser, and a veteran of World War II. Dr. Kent B. Davis of the Lehi Eighth Ward bishopric, conducted the services, at which the pray er with the family was offered by Victor Nicholes. Mrs. Karla Harding, ward organist, played the organ prelude and postlude. Following opening remarks by Dr. Davis, Mrs. CleoneCleghorn presented the biographical sketch and tribute. Succeeding speakers were Vivian Carter, lifelong neighbor and friend of the family, and Bishop. Grant Christof-ferso- n, former Fourth Ward bishop, and close neighbor. A vocal duet, "Hold Thou My Hand," by Vera Trane and Kathryn Dcrton, was accompan ied by Mrs. Harding. The closing song was a vocal solo, "Face to Face," by Darrell Wanlass. Carson Succumbs at 91 David Henry Carson, 91, na tive of Fairfield and long time sheep rancher, died March 22 in Kanab, Utah, of natural causes He had been visiting at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Daniel (Leona) Frost. He was born April 1L 1877, in Fairfield, Utah County, a son of William Franklin and Rachael Lloyd Carson. He attended the Fairfield School and began shear ing sheep at an early age. When the mining camp of Mercur start ed up he got a four horse team from his father and grandfather and engaged in hauling. He hauled one of the first four loads of lumber to the first lumber yard in Mercur. He began herding sheep in 1897, continuing in ranching and sheep raising throughout his life, for many years under the name of Carson Brothers, with his broth ers Ray and Matthew. They also produced grain and operated a threshing machine for other farms as well as their own. He later assisted in extensive poultry production on the Mc Kinney Ranch in the Fairfield area. He was custodian of the Lehi First Ward Church for a number of years. He moved with his family from Fairfield to Lehi in 1909. In 1938, he was elected Justice of the Peace, continuing in that position for some 20 years. Among church positions held was that of superintendent of the MIA. Active in the Sons of Utah Pioneers organization, he was president of the Lehi Chapter and also held life membership in the National Sons of Utah Pioneers organization. He is survivied by his son, Friends and neighbors gathered for the funeral of Stanley Senator Frank E.
