Five Fourth Ward Youths r Receive 'Duty to God' Awards Five boys from the Lehi Fourth Ward received their Duty to God awards Sunday evening. The presentations were made by Bishop G. Dale Burgess to John Hutchings, Roger Covington, Gary Burgess, Brent Miner and Neil Russon. This award is made to young men of the LDS Church who have been faithful in their religious duties, Bishop Burgess said. In order to achieve the award, the individual must be active in the three parts of the Church program where he regularly meets. First Graders Take Field Trip First grade pupils in Mrs Hall's class enjoyed a field trip the last week of school. The group, 27 in number, visited the Lehi Carnegie Library, the State Bank of Lehi and the Lehi Bakery. On the way back to the school they enjoyed a romp in the park. At the library Mrs. Edna Swain, librarian, talked to the children and explained the operation of the library. She instructed them in how to take books out and where they were' for their age group. She also stressed that they should be quiet when they are in the library. At the bank Alvin Schow talked to the group. He showed them the vault and various other areas and explained how they can make their money work for them. As they, were leaving each one received' a story-boo- k and a key chain with their initial on it. At the bakery Mr. Tuckett guided them through the shop and explained and demonstrated how the bakery items are made. Each child received a treat. Accompanying the group besides Mrs. Hall was Mrs. Kent (Jean) Peterson, one of the room mothers. The U. S. has the world's largest air transportation Oil is now Venezuela's chief export product. Schooling is compulsory in Belgium to age 14. These are the Aaronic Priesthood program, the Sunday School and the YMMIA. He must achieve annually in these three phases and the award is given after he has filled the following requirements for four years, not necessarily consecutive: He must earn the Individual Aaronic Priesthood Award each of the four years; He must attend Sun day and YMMIA at least 75 per cent of the time during each of these four years; and he must be an officially registered Boy Scout, Senior Scout, or Explorer for each of the four years. All young men of the Church be tween the ages of 12 and 18 in elusive are eligible to qualify for this award. John is 17 years old and the son of Mr. and Mrs. LaMar (Bud) Hutchings. He is a Priest and has earned his Life Scouting badge. At Lehi High School, he is a member of the Junior class and is active in wrestling. He likes to work on cars in his spare time. Roger is 18 years old and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sheral Covington. He is also a Priest and is active in the scouting program. He is a senior at the Lehi High School, and has graduated from Seminary. He enjoys fish ing, hunting and camping. Gary is the son of Bishop and Mrs. G. Dale Burgess. He is 17 years old and a junior at Lehi High. He has been active in scouting. At school he has play ed football, basketball and track and .is a. Seminary graduate. He will serve as "President of the Thespiansnext year. Brent is 16 years old and holds the office of Priest. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Miner. He recently earned his Eagle scouting award. At Lehi High he is a member of the sophomore class and is active in football, basketball and tennis. He is also a member of the band. Neil is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Russon. He is 17 years old and a member of the Junior class at Lehi High. He will serve as a delegate to Boys State this summer. He is active in scouting. At school he is active in wrestling, football and track. He is also a Seminary graduate. City Rec.r Jaycees To Sponsor Bowling League The American Fork City Rec department and the American Fork Jaycees are co sponsoring a Youth Summer Bowling League for both boys reation and girls. which will be The program held at Jack and Jill Bowling Lanes in Am. Fork will begin the week of June 3. Cost of the league will be $1.25 per week which includes a full course of instructions, scpring, proce dures and etiquette, etc. There will be three games of bowling each week with weekly prizes, no charge for shoes and troph ies to be awarded at the end of, the league.
