Production Anniversary of Joseph Riley Giles A family reunion, held Sunday, Oct. 8, at the home of Mrs. W. M. (Meda Giles) Carson, Sunday, Oct. 8, marked the 100th birthday anniversary of her father, the late Joseph Riley Giles. Mr. Giles will be recalled by many as a black smith in Lehi for many years. He was a son of Joseph Sinkler Giles, who came to Utah with Johnston's Army in early pioneer days. Born in Fillmore, he was married to Polly Harmon in Holden and came to Lehi in 1903. The family group visited the Lehi cemetery and decorated his grave. A fourth-yea- r student, he is studying under Professor William Christensen, dance instructor at the "IT, taking ballet, character and modern dance technique. Hie next university production will be the famous "Nutcracker Ballet," in which Mr. Evans will also participate. Mr. Coulam will be remembered as a former school teacher here. He was also a counselor in the Fourth Ward bishopric with Bishop Smith. Formerly serving in Pakistan, he as now on a U. S. Government assignment in the West Indies. With the Coulams came their daughter, Marie, who will attend the Utah State University in Logan. They came by jet flight to Washington, D. C, the trip taking . only about six and a half hours. It was decided to call for bids concerning the purchase of a new truck for the water department, as the truck currently in use is 12 years old and in poor condition. From Salt Lake City came Mrs Lena Giles Southern, 83, who al though blind for 53 years, main tains her own home, does her own baking and cares for herself. Mrs Southern, sister of Mrs. Sprague, was accompanied by her daugh ter, Mrs. Sabra Johnson of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sprague and Mr. and Mrs. Farry Sprague came from Monroe for the Sunday dinner. Also joining in the lavish banquet were Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Giles of Pleasant Grove, and members of the Carson fam ily. These included Mr. and Mrs. Warren Bone (Lucille), Jay and Leda; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Car son and daughter, Cleo, of Amer ican Fork; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Carson and five children of Plea sant Grove; Mrs. Esther Hancock, Richard and Elaine, and Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Carson and daugh ter.
