Birthday Friday Don Lehi's oldest pioneer settler. Charles Ferdinand Johnson, who will reach his 95 th milestone, Aug C well Loveridge, will observe his 86th birthday anniversary, next Friday, August 20. A family party is planned in his honor. . JOHNSON 27,wil be honored at an open ' house reception, Sunday, August 29, in Wines Park. With members of his immediate family, he will greet friends and relatives from 1:00 p. m. to 6:00 p. m. A cordial invitation is extended to low, Mrs. Mr. Johnson, who now makes his home with a daughter, Mrs. Bea Boley In Salt Lake City, remains active and enjoys visiting with his large posterity. He continues to read enough to keep informed on world affairs and en joys television. Mr. Johnson was bom in Hurum, Norway, August 27, 1859, a son of John Johnson and Gorina Turgenson Johnson. He came to Utah with his parents, one sister and two brothers, in 1863, the ocean voyage requiring nine weeks. The many hardships of crossing the plains and pioneer life were endured. Although pioneer life afforded very little schooling, Mr. Johnson took advantage of every opportunity to learn and became a successful farmer. He was employed at the Bingham and Park City mines and also worked for the Union Pacific Railroad Company. He was married to Jane Pierce Chilton, August 18, 1881. She passed away August 31, 1945. Joining with Mr. Johnson with good wishes next Sunday will be his daughters and son: Mrs. W. A., (Elizabeth) Evans and Charles L. Johnson, Lehi; Mrs. Parley (Inez) Olsen, Provo; Mrs. Gladys Beck, American Fork, and Mrs. Boley.
