Evans, general chair-.ia- n of tiie Lions committee vhich sponsored the project. The harbor closed down after Iemorial Day, when a sportsman .ttempting to pull out a large cruiser snagged the metal landing mats and pulled up a large secof the tion. Representatives iioard of Canal Presidents then isked the Lions Club to shut lown the harbor until suitable repairs were made and legal lgreemnts for operation of the .arbor completed. A verbal agreement between the .ions committee and the Board of Canal Presidents has been reached, and they are now awaiting preparation of the legal documents for signing. An agreement must also be signed between the Lions Club and Dan Evans, who will oversee the harbor. Included in the latter agreement will be a set of safety rules tor the harbor. Chairman Evans said the Lions Club will decide this week whether to expand the harbor facilities or to continue operating it as it now is. On Memorial Day more than 90 boats were launched. The landing mats the Lions have installed to date are capable of handling only three medium sized boats at a time, resulting in a crowded condition at the harbor. 1956.
