The mine boomed and much rich ore was shipped. He always thought he would like to farm, so in lsi'tH he married Harriet Bahr and moved back to where he bought a farm and built a home on the old family property. He always took a delight in seeing things grow and in keeping his farm and home tidy ami in good condition. Sometime in the year lfMid he became associated with surveyors who were sent out by Salt Lake City to survey Utah Lake. As soon as this job was completed he was put in charge of excavating for the installation of the pumps at the head of Jordan River; he then measured water at the pumps for three years. During his spare time he located a quarry in the Lake Mountains and furnished rock for the foundations of many homes, churches, and schools at Lehi and American Fork. He followed this work until cement came into use. He served one term in the Lehi City Council during 1908 and 1909; he was also a director in the Lehi Irrigation Company for eight years during the years 1922 to 1929, inclusive. Jonas was baptized into the Chuch of Jesus Christ of Later-da- y Saints when he was eight years of age, October 13, 1872. On May 13, 1917, he received his endowments in the temple and had his wife and four children sealed to him. His wife and children were given every encouragement by him to work in the church, and in 1927 a son was sent into the mission field, where he was kept for months. twenty-si- x Five years ago in March, 1933, Jonas underwent a major peration and two months later he underwent another critical operation.
