In the opening paragraph of his article the editor says that the fire rates took effect April 20, 1933. The Brown home burned down the Friday before, April 14. Thursday, April 20, 1933, was the day that the first issue of the FREE PRESS entered the postoffice following the fire. The rates were in effect as it entered. That paper would reach Salt Lake City on Friday, April 21, a day later than the announcements of the increase in rates.
