A fruit punch completed the refreshments. Michelle chose silk flowers for both the bridal party and for decorating, both for the savings in cost and so that they would remain attractive for the Layton reception and the Idaho open house. But one Layton mother of ; e.ight has found ways to cut the-ipsts of a wedding reception and. at the same time, provide a memorable and lovely evening for the bride and groom. Marsha Maughan and her daughter Michelle planned and carried out Michelle's wedding earlier this year and offered hints on how to keep costs at a minimunj and still have a "dream" reception. In fact, the Maughans were involved in a reception in Layton and an open house in Idaho, where the grooms family lives. With some ingenuity, planning, and by shopping around, they did it all for under $800 according to Mrs. Maughan. When Michelle first announced her engagement she was a student at Utah State University and so she began to check with several printers between Layton and Logan. She opted for invitations with raised printing without pictures. Mrs. Maughan estimated that by carteful shopping and eliminating the picture of the bride and groom, half of the typical cost of invitations was saved.
