County Commissioner Harry Gerlach said the expenditure will help make the program more efficient. Gerlach said the computer program is also being looked at now as a model for other counties. Next year all students in public education will be required to comply with the countys immunization program, Mary Mere- dith, nursing supervisor for the county nursing division, said. Compliance will include a requirement of four DTPs (dipth-eria- ) vaccinations, three polio, one measles, one mumps and one rubella shot The county can exclude kids from school if they dont have the immunizations under the - new law. . Infant Car Seats Available LAYTON Infant car seats, designed to reduce the risk of fatal injury by 80 percent are available to new mothers at Human Hospital Davis North due to donations from three community groups. William Rees, associate executive director at the hospital, announced that 100 infant car seats have been purchased or don nated to the hospital by the Kiwanis Club, Davis County Lay-to- health Department and the Human Hospital Davis North Volunteer Organization. The seats, designed for children up to 20 pounds, are available for a $15 deposit. Upon return of the seat, $10 will be refundable. All profits will be used to purchase additional seats. Motor vehicle accidents are the number one killer of children, and in addition, 77 percent ' of injuries suffered by children in car accidents include head injuries. The car seats drastically reduce injuries, preventing the child from becoming a flying missile. The seats should be consistently used, even for short drives, since 80 percent of all auto accidents occur at speeds less than 40 miles per hour and 75 percent occur within 25 miles of home.
