Sunset Hosts Region Softball Tournament Dinis Lucky field; Lynette Bradford, SUNSET , softClub, a womens slow-pitc- h ball team from Yerrington, Nev., won the Rocky Mountain Regional competition held last weekend in Sunset. The tournament was sancti- onedby the American Softball Association and featured 14 teams from six states, according to Mel Wood, the citys recreation director. ' Only one team from Utah, a Bountiful team sponsored by the LDS Hospital, participated, in the tournament. But the women from Utah were eliminated early in the tournament, said Wood, and finished in 11th place. Despite a disappointing finished in the regional tourney, the LDS Hospital team went undeh feated in a Bountiful league and placed first in the state tournament. Cyprus High School won the Cyprus-Ro- y High School Volleyball Tournament held last Friday and Saturday at Cyprus. Three local teams, Roy, Clearfield and Davis, participated in the tournament. Roy placed third behind Brighton, which finished in second place. Ogden took fourth place, Taylorsville finished fifth, West nabbed sixth pre-seas- Co-ho- st place, Clearfield took seventh and Davis High took eighth tournaplace in the eight-teament. The tourney started last week with regional play at Cyprus and m Roy. Roy Coach Radene Johnson said her club performed pretty well' in the tournament, but should have defeated tournament champion Brighton. In the match against Brighton, the Royals won the first game, but lost the second game, because of mental errors, said Johnson. Roy then lost the third and deciding game, 15-1- 3, 16-1- 4, 15-1- 2. We had them, but we had a little lapse there, said Johnson. The Royals were forced to play without Susan Adair, a se- nior who was injured in practice before the tournament. Johnson said she worked in two or three people in Adairs spot during the tournament. Johnson said the next competition will be the Weber Tournament held at Weber High School Friday and Saturday. She said some of the schools participating in the tournament are Weber, a traditionally strong volleyball school, Roy, Davis, Box Elder, Hillcrest and Alta. r' ; How good are you at maintaining good health?
